My 7 year old son is a big fan of theme birthday parties, so this year Jack Jack decided it would be awesome if he could have a Ninja Birthday Party. I am into very simple and easy birthday parties, so I told he and his siblings to plan it and then come tell me what their ideas were and we would go from there. They had a great time planning the Ninja Birthday Party, and I was so happy with how simple and fun it was going to be.
The one and only thing that was a little out of my league was that he wanted a Ninja piñata, which I don’t normally do for birthdays because they can be so expensive, plus you have to buy the candy. I decided it couldn’t be that hard to make, so with a round balloon, torn up newspaper and a No-Cook Paste which is just 1 part water 2 parts flour, we went for it. Here is an example of how to make it. We just dipped the newspaper strips in the paste and covered the whole balloon. When the paste was dry (about 24 hours) we cut a whole and pulled out the popped balloon. We used Paracord and drilled two holes and looped them through so that we could have a handle. We made the yellow face out of tissue paper which we just glued and taped on. We snipped one side of crepe paper and taped it around the balloon. (That took the longest amount of time. You can also the paint instead of crepe paper, but I liked the look of this better. We used black paper for the eyes, and then black duct tape for the headband. My son LOVED it and was so happy
Ninja Birthday Party Fun
The kids had a blast. We had learned how to make Ninja Masks from the Lego Magazine (Watch our video here), so we told the kids to dress up as a ninja or just bring a long sleeve T-shirt! The kids played Ninja, and a few other made up outside games for a bit, we did Piñata, opened presents.
What’s a Birthday party without “Pin the something on the something” so for this Ninja Birthday Party I thought we could Pin the eyes on the Ninja! The kids LOVED it!! A group of 6-8 year old boys doing this game are wild and hilarious! . I cut thick piece of poster board in a round circle and then made these eye masks on Photoshop. I thought I would make a printable for my readers. They were super simple to make and the kids loved the game!(Right click on image and save to desktop for Download HERE)
To top the Ninja Birthday party off he had to had a cool Ninja cake, right!?! The cake was my favorite things to make. A few years ago I made this other birthday cake It was very simple and fun to make. I used chocolate frosting and then used Wilton Black Color Mist! I haven’t ever used this before, but black frosting is hard to make and this made it SO easy. I just star tipped the whole cake where the black was supposed to go and then sprayed it and let it dry. Then I used white (died yellow) frosting to make the eye area. I made the eye ball with white and that was that. Super easy and fun cake to make!! It wasn’t my most detailed cake, obviously, but as you can see my son was so happy!!
Here are some other fun birthday cakes I have made….
