I had just given birth to this little girl….How excited I was to have a girl. We didn’t find out what we were having and my whole family and husband were for sure it was going to be a boy. Secretly I wanted it to be a girl but I didn’t say anything. As I saw her for the first time I knew how special my little blond curly haired baby girl was. I held her, cried and didn’t want to ever let her go. I still don’t {obviously you can tell that from my post yesterday!}. This little girl amazes me. She is truly a gift from God to me to help me each and every day of my life. She has her moments as all little kids do, but she is always trying to be good, always trying to do what is right. People always tell me {especially after she has born her testimony in church} how I have taught her so well. Want to know a little secret…She was born that way. I mean I do teach her, but it has always amazed me with her that she just gets it. She was born with an amazing memory and understanding of what is right and good. It’s in her heart, she was born with it.
I always tell my kids we can celebrate their birthday but they can’t get older. LaLa has always said she had to turn 8 because in our church that is when they get baptized. She has always been so excited for this time in her life. I am very proud of her for making this decision to be baptized and become a member of the church and to have the Holy Ghost as her constant companion. Now she says she needs to get older so she can go on a mission and then eventually get married…yada yada ya…I won’t stand for it :)!
{this is one of the two dresses I made out of my friend wedding dress…I LOVE it!}
This girl has brought so much joy into my life. She teaches me daily. I always tell her that if she is my only daughter that I ever have that I am more than grateful because of how wonderful she is. This song always remind me of how lucky I am to have her and how I feel about her…
In my daughter’s eyes, I am a hero.
I am strong an’ wise, And I know no fear.
But the truth is plain to see:
She was sent to rescue me,
I see who I wanna be, in my daughter’s eyes.
In my daughter’s eyes, everyone is equal,
Darkness turns to light,And the world is at peace.
This miracle God gave to me,
Gives me strength when I am weak.
I find reason to believe, in my daughter’s eyes.
An’ when she wraps her hand around my finger,
Oh, it puts a smile in my heart.
Everything becomes a little clearer.
I realize what life is all about.
It’s hangin’ on when your heart has had enough;
It’s givin’ more when you feel like givin’ up.
I’ve seen the light: it’s in my daughter’s eyes.
In my daughter’s eyes, I can see the future.
A reflection of who I am, An’ what will be.
An’ though she’ll grow an’, some day, leave:
Maybe raise a family, When I’m gone,
I hope you’ll see, How happy she made me,
For I’ll be there, in my daughter’s eyes.
This weekend she will get baptized and her little brother will get blessed. It’s going to be an amazing weekend…a “heavenly weekend” as a friend of ours put it!
She’s such a good big sister
