Sorry I wasn’t around yesterday. I am sure I was not too missed, although I know I am loved…right? 🙂
Well my reasoning was because of my 3rd goal for the year which is…
-
When my kids are talking to me I need to make sure I stop and listen, and not keep walking around or doing what I am doing on the computer, sewing machine or kitchen.
-
If my kids ask me to do something with them {like play a game, read a book, etc} I am going to try my hardest to find a way to say yes. Unless it’s at a ridiculous hour or during quiet time {that’s my time}
-
Take time to just sit with them and chat and talk to them about their days
-
Go on parent/kid dates! It is always great to have one on one time with each kid.
And to go along with that, I have learned not just last year, but in all the years I have been a mother, that I am SO grateful to be a mother. That God trusted me with his sweet children, my sweet children, to be their mom. I recently read I am a Mother by Jane Clayson Johnson and really enjoyed it. There is a quote I loved that says.
“You Matter,” Jane reminds women, because “a mother’s work is God’s work” – even on the days and nights that challenge your strength and test your character, and even when the world works overtime to minimize your calling.

I just love your blog! You always have such great ideas. I have to share how important I think the parent/child dates are. When my grown kids were younger my husband and I would take just one child at a time on a date. They called it there “special day.” It wasn’t until years later after they were grown that they have shared with us how important and special these dates were to them. Keep up the good work :o)

Super idea! I think I should steal it! And you are already an amazing mom and if you were able to accomplish those goals of never yelling and everything else on your list I think I’d bump up your status to “SUPER” mom! Now I just need a few more parenting books. =)

I sort of ran into your blog, and I love it! Anyways, I read parenting books as well. I just finished “How to Talk so Kids will Listen” by Adele Faber. It is AMAZING. I also like “The Soft Spoken Parent” by Wallace Goddard. Good luck!
