Goal and Gratitude #4

January 9, 2011 by The Things I Love Most

My next goal is…

Do something to become a better Wife
My husband and I have a pretty darn great relationship.  He helps me so much because he is self employed and can basically work when he wants to.  I am very grateful for his willingness to always help me around the house, with the kids or just stopping by the store to get me something.

I have realized though that I, in turn, want to do more for him.  Don’t get me wrong, I know I do a lot for him,  but I want to do more.  I want to be a bit better this year in making an effort to improve our relationship.
  • One thing I am going to work harder to do is to work along side him better.  He is always working along side me, so I am going to help him more.  For example, when he needs help with a project in the garage {which by the way we are going to be doing a lot of in the next couple of months and I will share those with you}  I need to have a better attitude about going out and helping him. Sometimes we start on a project and then when I see he is doing it I stay inside and let him do it all.  We work really well together and have a lot of fun building, cleaning and even doing the dishes and laundry together.  So when projects are being done this year my goal is to willingly help out more often.
  • I am going to try hard to cook 5 meals a week.  During my diet and after I kind of got in a slump about cooking and making meals and meal planning.  I was tired because of being pregnant and nothing sounded good to me so I was really bad about making good meals for my family.  This last week I changed that and as of tonight I have me 4 meals with lots of leftovers because he loves leftovers!
  • I am going to budget to have an out of house date night once a month and hire a babysitter.  We don’t live in an area with a lot of babysitters so we will make do doing dinner and take out every week but one.  I know he would love to go see a movie in the theaters, or just go out to eat and go bowling or something.
  • and lastly I want to hold his hand more when we are walking.  For some reason we don’t hold hands that much and I miss it.  So I’m going to initiate it!! 🙂  Wish me luck!
And the thing I am grateful for today that I learned this last year was to create this blog.  It has been so fun to blog and read other blogs that inspire me.  I hope mine does the same for others.  It has been fun to create something, and work at making it better.  I am grateful for what I have learned through blogging and the people that have taught me so much.  It is a time for me to think, to ponder and to share my ideas and that’s fun!  I really like it!  So thanks to all you that have blogs that inspired me to create mine!!
Have a wonderful day and come back tomorrow for a review and giveaway!!

Hey sis! I like your goals. They reminded me of a great book that I read a couple of months ago…The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands by Dr. Laura. Have you read it? She says great things…things that many women may think are silly or harsh, but they are things that would save or better many marriages in this world. Anyway, check it out sometime, it is a good one!

I agree with the hand holding thing. It seems like when you get married and have kids, the dates stop and the holding hands stop. I LOVE holding Jason’s hand, but it doesn’t happen too much any more. I guess I need to initiate it more too!

We just found a GREAT babysitter! It’s the daughter of a lady my husband works with. We’ve had her twice, and I left all of them with her this last time! She even put the 2 oldest to bed! Send me a note if you want her info!! Great post!
