A couple of months ago I heard about a new playhouse close to my home in Washington, Utah (next to St. George). It’s called Brigham’s Playhouse and is owned by one of Brigham Youngs’ descendants. It is located in the cutest little village called Cotton Town Village. Which is a whole bunch of wooden building converted into shops a restaurant, a play house and the a Red Barn store! It takes you back in time to a simpler day and a fun western feel!
There are a few other really cute building around. Isn’t it so cute?
This last Saturday I was able to take my cute daughter to see the play “Little Women, A Little Musical” at Brigham’s Playhouse. She just finished reading the book and was excited to see the play. Little Women is one of my all time favorite stories. When I was little I loved to watch the movie with my sisters. I had never heard of it as a musical and was so excited to see it!
When we walked into the Playhouse it took us back 75 years. It is beautiful. The actors were selling old fashion treats like fudge, homemade ice cream, kettle corn and honey sticks! They were all dressed in costume and were very fun and entertaining while waiting for the play to start!
Now if you know the story of Little Women you know how touching it is. There are times of happiness and sadness. The story, to me, show that life goes on through hard time and good times, but having those you love around you is what is most important. Adding the music to this wonderful story only made it better! The cast had wonderful voices that joined together in great harmony. The whole show was phenomenal. The song “My Little Women”, was especially beautiful, and totally made my cry. The cast was amazing and truly put their heart into all they said, sang and did! I was amazing by the emotion that they put into it. They laughed, smiled, and cried like it was real life! The audience cried, I even cried! It was a very touching production. After the show the cast lined the sidewalk for us to meet them. My daughter was embarrassed so she pulled me quickly to the car. I totally had tears in my eyes as I quickly told a few of the cast members they did an excellent job.
Brigham Young had a strong belief in theater and acting. I love this quote they have hanging on the wall….
Little Women runs through the 29th of March. The next show they will be doing is See How They Run followed up by Annie and then Sound of Music! I love that there is now something else to do besides just going out to dinner on our date nights! We will be seeing all these shows, and eating homemade ice cream while doing it!!
If you don’t live in the St. George area, but visit, this is a great place to go visit and enjoy your time. They have shows running Tuesday through Saturday with a Saturday matinee. Check out their website for upcoming shows and follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

This place looks fun! We have been to his historical house before and will have to check this place out next time we are in St. George.
