I participated in a Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for SwimWays. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
One of the things my kids love to do the most during the summer is go swimming. We tend to go about once a week to a small town pool a few miles away. Many families enjoy lounging by and playing in the pool as a favorite summer activity, but we need to make sure that our kids know swim safety, have proper swim instruction or swim products that help our kids stay safe at the pool and feel like confident swimmers (even if they have a life jacket on)!
My kids have all been at different levels when it comes to swimming at each age. My daughter was a crazy fish and could swim on her own in open deep water by the time she was three. She has always loved the water and only used floatation devices when she was under three. My boys, for some odd reason have had a huge fear of the water, so I bought some of the different levels of Swim Steps products from SwimWays to help them get more comfortable with the water! When my son was four and under he would only play on the stairs and would NEVER go in. Finally, after much screaming at me when we would go out in the deeper part of the pool together, he learned to love it! By the time he was five he only had to use a Step 3 life vest and loved to go out in deeper water! My 3rd was pretty hesitant and my 4th, who will be four next week has followed in his older brother’s footsteps and hates deep water even if he has a floatation device on. He’ll get it and I know he’s safe because he has his floatation device on. I used to be kind of anti floaty, but since having 5 kids, and knowing that I can’t keep my eyes on all of them, I have realized that they are just fine. My kids will all learn to swim on their own one day, and with these great vest and floatation devices I can know they are mostly likely going to be safe as long as I keep my eye on them and get to them if they fall in.
Help Your Kids Become Confident Swimmers
Swim lessons are a great way to introduce your kids to swimming. We also usually take swim lessons for a two week session which my kids love. I went through a period of time where I didn’t take my kids to swim lessons in the summer and my boys got more scared of the water that season. It seems like if you start them out doing swim lessons at the beginning of the season they do really well all summer! if you can’t afford swim lessons for your whole family, SwimWays has been teaching children to swim for over 40 years, making it easy for parents to share their love of water while building their child’s confidence. Baby Spring Floatcreated the Swim Steps line of products that gradually helps your kids become more confident in their swimming abilities. It’s important to get them in the water with you at a young age! I have always loved having SwimWays Baby Spring Float to start them out in. Around the age of two is when they start getting a little big for them. My little guy tried this one out at the pool last week and loved it mostly in the shallow water. He likes his feet to touch the ground right now. I have two young kids that need constant watch at the pool, so one was in the float and the other was in a 2-in-1 Life Vest. I tried taking my baby out in the deep, since he is a little bigger, when he leaned forward he got a face full of water. I think it’s almost time to transition him to the second stage, and possibly the 2-in-1 vest! Look at that cute line up of baby floats!
Saturday, May 16, 2015 is the 4th annual National Learn to Swim Day! I think this is a great opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim. Summer is fast approaching and learning this invaluable life skill is even more essential for fun as well as for safety. This day will help parents and caretakers to kick off summer safely by engaging their children in water safety and swim instructions. Swimming is such an important life skill and I think everyone should learn to swim in their life starting at a young age! SwimWays agrees and hopes that you will take a stand and help raise awareness about this important step in children’s lives!
