Conference was wonderful this weekend, and how better than to start my week of blogging than with another service project for Primary Children’s Medical Center! This months Primary Children’s Service Project is pretty easy. Here are the instructions. Get in your car, Drive to Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target, any store that sells these….
The NICU has requested boy’s snap-up infant pajamas, size 0/3 months. You can either buy them new or sew them (no used pajamas please). You can check out their facebook page for more details. I know Wal-Mart sells these for around $5-7 dollars a piece! You might even find them cheaper at the Family Dollar, Kmart or Target! Don’t feel like you need to buy a ton of them, one or two is great!
Again I wanted to share a story, but this time it is a story from one of my great friends, whose daughter was in a boating accident and was life flighted to PCMC!

When my daughter Jaycee was life flighted to Primary Children’s Medical Center I really grew to love that hospital. We were treated like we were the most important patients/family in the whole hospital as I know that others felt that same way too. I remember sitting in the waiting room all alone (my husband was driving up from St. George) while Jaycee was in surgery. As I sat there, a nurse passed by the window. She saw me in the room sitting alone and so she turned around and came in to see me. It made me so happy that the staff was so concerned for my daughter.
A therapist also came in with a doll and talked to Jaycee about her boating accident. Jaycee got to dress that doll exactly how she was dressed. For example, the doll ended up having a hospital gown, an iv (which Jaycee got to put in) and scars from her boating accident/surgery. The purpose was for the therapist to talk to Jaycee during this time and help her to realize that what happened to her was an accident and was NOT her fault.
Another thing we loved about it, is they had volunteers come in every day and do crafts with her. One time they even brought a rescue dog in there for her to pet and see. She looked forward to that time every day and it brought a smile to her face.
After Jaycee’s surgery, I swear she got more visits from the nursing staff than any other patient. They would come see her from other floors because they had heard how cute she was and how brave this little 5 year old girl was. The nurses gave Jaycee a blanket, and stuffed animal to keep and she, to this day still sleeps with them. She often talks about her experience there at PCMC and how great it was.

Thanks Shelly for sharing that with us!
So jump in the car, take your kids with you and talk to them about what your service is for this month and then mail the pajamas to
