Come To Zion, vol 2 – Through Cloud and Sunshine Book Review

August 16, 2013 by The Things I Love Most

Last year I did a review on the first book in this series called The Wind and the Waves.  You can read my review here.  I love Dean Hughes books and this one has been one of my favorite series by far.  I have a hard time reading series that I have to wait for so I usually wait for all of them to come out, but I loved this one so much I didn’t forget what had gone on.  This next book is just as good.  It again follows two families, one during the times in Old Navoo with Will and Lizzy, and the other family, Will’s grandson, who is living in Navuoo in todays time.

Here is a little synopsis of the book

One of my favorite parts of the book is when both women are having babies.  One during the pioneer time, and one that has a baby now.  I love reading about miracles, struggles, and the many blessings that encompass stories of having babies.  I think the pioneers were amazingly strong people.  So many babies didn’t make it, and many women died during childbirth.

Something I learned from the book and the interweaving of the two families, is that life is hard.  EVERYONE has struggles no matter what.  Whether you lived during times of pioneers, or in modern times we are all going to go, or have gone through hard things.  We just have to have faith, and trust in God that he will direct our life!

Anyway, If you read it let me know how you like it!!  Have awonderful day!

Thanks for the review on the book. My husband gave the 1st one to me on Christmas. I haven’t had time to read it yet; but I will. It’s on my list of every growing books I already have to read.
It looks like a good one. I love pioneer era books.
    Blessings!
