Let Them Be Little

June 2, 2011 by The Things I Love Most

My husband and I have been trading off for the last hour with this sweet baby who just plain fussy.  It’s 1 am and I am so tired.  My hubby stood by the bathroom sink for 20 mins with the baby in his arms and the faucet running because he likes that noise.  He fell asleep, but as soon as he put him in the bed he woke up.  My Turn!  I took him to the kitchen and held him in my arms while I put some dishes away, he fell asleep.  I put him in his crib, he cried, my husband is snoring and totally zonked….still my turn.  ðŸ™‚  I decided to come sit at the computer and read facebook updates, totally desperate I know, and turn on music, because this little man loves music.  The first song on my play list was this…

And I bet you know what I was doing by the end of the song.   You guessed it…totally bawling and looking down at my baby boy hoping he doesn’t grow up to fast.  I remember when I first heard this song, I was holding my first baby girl and watching Good Things Utah and Billy Dean came on the show and sang this song.  I bawled, and then went out and bought his CD.  I remember thinking how I didn’t want her to grow up, now she is almost 8, she’s growing up way to fast.  I don’t think there is a time I hear this song that I don’t cry.   It reminds me to cherish each day with my kids while they are young.  This song reminds me that they still are little, and I need to “let them be little”, but not pushing them to hard, and by enjoying each day I have with them!  They really are going to grow up way to fast.  It reminds me to not sweat the small stuff that at the time seems so big.  I hope and pray that as my kids grow up they know how much I love them, and that when they are grown up and have children of their own that we will be close and that they will love being with their mom and dad even after they are grown.

I’m listening to it again…and totally bawling! {why do I do this to myself?}
He’s asleep.
We’ll see if he will sleep in his crib, if not he’s sleepin in the middle or at least in my arms all night.

    It sure is a great thing he’s sooo cute! Rough nights are the worst! You can send him my way anytime! Maybe he’ll like the sound of my vacuum…and we all know how much I LOVE to vacuum!
