A few years ago my sister told me about her New Years Goals that she made with her family every year. She had them on her fridge so that her children could see them daily! I loved the idea of creating goals both personally and as a family to help teach our children that goals are important to set. I love this quote by Thomas S. Monson on goal setting…..
In order to have real success in life we need to set goals and work hard to acheive them. Isn’t it the best feeling in the world to accomplish something you have worked hard at! How will we ever accomplish hard things if we haven’t set goals. This is such an important concept to teach our children!
My sister wrote all about how she helps her kids set resonable goals HERE on our Mama Birds blog last year and I decided to make a printable for it! I have used this printable for the last 3 years with my kids and it’s been fun to see them work toward a goal. Some goals they make are pretty easy, which is fine, others have been harder and a bit more challenging!
This is the one we use for our kids…
This one doesn’t have school but has “Vacation” and “Work” so my husband and I use this one….
Every year after the new year I give these out to my kids and we sit around the table and decide what we want our goals to be for the year. I encourage them if there is something from the year that they didn’t accomplish yet, to put it back on their list.
I read a quote the other day that said somthing about not waiting until we reach the goal to be proud of ourselves, but to be proud of ourselves every step we take toward accomplishing the goal. Setting goals and acheiving them can be hard, but it’s so important to teach our children that if we want something in life we need to set goals! Good luck on your goal planning this year! Remember to set resonable goals and help encourage your children to do the same! Celebreate along the way as you work hard to accomplish your goals!
Here is a printable so that you can print two to a page!
