Last week we went a fun and memorable family vacation to San Diego! I love to travel with my little family. It is always nice to have a much needed break from life and enjoy the time with just my husband and kids. The only problem is coming home and having 7 loads of laundry to do and kids that are exhausted and a sad that the fun and excitement is over and we have to get back to reality. It’s actually pretty hard for me too. I wish life was a vacation every day.We decided for our vacation that we would go to San Diego. A few months ago we were at a museum nearby and there was an section in the museum that had an aquarium in it, it was very small, but my kids did not want to leave the room. They could have looked at the sharks, rays and jellyfish for an hour. We had been trying to decide where to take our fall vacation and right then it dawned on me where we should go. I walked over to my husband and I said, “That’s it, we are going to SeaWorld for our family vacation this fall.” My husband’s life gets super busy with his Christmas lights business all through November to January, so we decided to take a week in October and head to the San Diego area!
As you can see we were pretty excited to be on vacation!!
The Best Time Of Year to Visit San Diego
While I know San Diego is a great any time of year, I have heard that going to San Diego in October is a great time to go becuase the weather is great, California kids are in school, and you can get a lot of great deals on the parks! We went on the weekdays Monday through Friday, and drove home Friday night. In San Diego in October it’s kid free month for a lot of the parks such as SeaWorld, Legoland, and the Zoo and Safari Park! With 5 kids I totally jumped on that idea!
We stayed at a great hotel that I will tell you more details about next week. It was a Homewood Suites by Hilton and I couldn’t recommend it more. We stayed in one when we went to Carlsbad a couple of years ago and I couldn’t recommend it more! We decided to spend a day at each theme park and spend half a day at the beach. Sadly our beach day was an overcast windy rainy day so we didn’t end up getting in the water. But we did have a great time and the kids did get some seashells! Over the next few days I am going to tell you all about our Southern California San Diego vacation. I will talk about all the fun things that we did and ways to save money and enjoy the parks. Come back tomorrow where I will share with you all about SeaWorld!

I’d love to visit San Diego one day, it’s on the US bucket list, along with a few other places. (I don’t envy your washing basket though… just two for me!)

We visit SD often because we have family there. There is no bad time because the weather is always the same – perfect.
