I have been reading some fun “Day in the Life” post from some of my favorite bloggers. It’s always enjoyable to see how other families do their days, especially if they homeschool. A lot of people ask me how I do my day. I think the main thing that I do is stay busy and have structure and then my days turn out pretty great. I do have hard moments or just altogether hard days, but for the most part I really like my days being home with the kiddos!
A Day in the Life, Part 1 – Our Mornings
My husband leaves for work at 6:00. I try to get up and have me time, but that doesn’t always happen. Especially lately when my baby is still waking up twice in the night. So Little Man coming in at 6:30 telling me how “Hon Gry” he is, is usually how my day starts out. Oh how I wish he would sleep until 7:30 or 8:00 like everyone else.
Oh well. He likes to come snuggle up to me while I am busy waisting my time on facebook
I mean blogging! 🙂
He got to play the LeapPad while I finished up my blog post! He was pretty happy about that idea!
Around 7:30 Jack Jack decided to wake up and come snuggle on the couch.
By 8:00 we are up and eating breakfast!
I try to sneak in to make my messy bed and get dressed….
but this little guy wakes up, and is super excited to see me. (even though he has seen me twice in the night!)
I head out to check on the boys and see them wrestling in their bedroom while they should be getting dressed! I tell them they better stop and get going on their stuff. They need to have a clean room and be dressed before they come out. They keep wrestling, I walk out of the room counting to 10. For some reason when I do that they get focused again! Ha!
I take EJ and go feed him breakfast!
He waves at the camera and wonders why in the world I am taking picture of him this early in the morning.
The kids start their jobs. (usually without me asking them, but sometimes I have to remind them what they are supposed to be doing) They rotate each week and this week Jack Jack (5) has garbage and pets.
This is their reward system for being obedient and doing it without being told (they get one reminder). They get to go out for a treat when their cup is full.
Cowboys is trying to convince the 2 year old he wants to help him clean the bathroom. He is pretty good at convincing him and Little Mr. goes along with it!
Finally this little man is full and ready to play!
I am not ready to have him on the ground yet, so a handful of Cheerios it is until the floor is all cleaned up. (he is a vacuum if I leave stuff on the floor).
Meanwhile this cute lady is busy doing her hair and getting ready for the day. She takes the longest, but she is very focused on starting school.
I head out to feed the chickens our scraps and the dog acts crazy! She thinks she is tied up, even though she isn’t!
I feed these crazy hens and grab the eggs.
Then I drop one on the floor. Four have been dropped this week. Ugh! We now have a rule that we don’t get eggs unless we have a container to put them in.
I come inside and Little Mister is throwing a tantrum about not getting a piece of candy. (His potty candy is gone and I’m not buying anymore. He is trained!)
LaLa is busy at work helping me sort out the laundry.
She even made my bed and then put all the laundry on top of it.
We sort out piles and deliver them to every one’s room.
Jack Jack is making a super hero cape thinking it will help him float off the top bunk.
It didn’t work and he wasn’t very happy about it.
I finally get a chance to get my makeup and hair done.
The kids played with stuffed animals and entertained the baby.
EJ sees me and cries. I pick him up and get him ready to go down for a nap.
These two boys play Legos until school starts. Today they made bats!
Finally it’s rocking time around 9:30.
This kids are free to play until I am done rocking the baby.
He is happy to be going to bed!
It only took me 10 mins to rock him.
(He can go to sleep on his own, but I like rocking him!)
He’s asleep and then our school day starts!
He usually sleeps for a solid 2 hours.
We can get a lot done in that time.
This is our typical morning.
Some mornings we are more on the ball and some not so much!
But for the most part our mornings are always just like this.
Come back tomorrow to read more!!
