25 Days of Christmas – Spirit, Service, and Fun – 2013

November 29, 2013 by The Things I Love Most

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I did! I had dinner with over 60 family members and all though a bit crazy, I LOVED it!  I love this holiday season, and it just gets better as we move on to Christmas to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.  I am so thankful for him.  I have, for the past 3 years, done the 25 days of Christmas Spirit, Service and Fun.  It started when my daughter was about 5 and we just did fun things leading up to Christmas.  A few years ago I felt inspired that we really needed to emphasize the real meaning of Christmas in our home.  And that is when I came up with this idea.  We kept the fun stuff, but added service each day, and learning more about what Christmas is all about each day through the 25 days of the Christmas Spirit.
When you look at this you might think that it is a lot, but it really doesn’t take a lot of time and the kids really like it.  It creates wonderful memories and quality time together as a family.  There are two great books that I got some of my ideas from, Discover Christmas and 12 Gifts of Christ.  Which are both great books to own.
Here in this post are a few of our other traditions we have.  Some of which are the 25 books of Christmas, picking names for siblings to give gifts to each other, and 25 Days of Christ ornaments each night, and we also have a Scripture Advent that my kids love to do each day.  Here is a link of how we are doing our Advent this year.

We have so much fun coming up with different services to do each day.  They can be as big as doing a 12 days of Christmas, to just picking up trash in the park.  My kids favorite thing to do is to go to the mall and go to the .25 cent kid rides and offer to pay for other kids to ride on the rides.  I just sit back and watch.  It is so fun!! Here is a list of ideas that we put together last year.

I hope you all have a wonderful December.  I would love to know some of your holiday traditions!

I can download the 25 days of fun, but not the one focused on spiritual suggestions. Can you put up a link just for that one?

    Thank you for sharing!
