I got my hair cut and colored a few days ago. I haven’t done that forever. I actually just went in to get a cut, and the sweet girl looked at my hair and side, “um….when was the last time you colored your hair, it needs it.” I knew it needed it, but not that bad. With the sun shinging through the window I realized my regrowth was like 3 inches and looked HORRIBLE. Thanks to all my real friends that said something to me about it…I guess I don’t have any. My problem is I absolutly despise paying more than $20 bucks on my hair. She told me the price and I about DIED. But she was super nice and suggested some things and I sat there thinking about how much I missed my blond hair and was sick of the dirty dishwater color that comes in after having a baby, so I text my husband and said “can I color my hair” he text back and said “whatever makes you happy dear” Ok not really, but he said it would be fine. {I didn’t tell him the price until later and he about killed over}. No worries, we worked it out and he still loves me and my hair! She told me I needed to come back in 8 weeks, I am hoping it takes longer to grow out, but we shall see.
Saving Money by Making Your Own….Not Money Silly!
I just wanted to look more like my beautiful daughter…
So anyway on to my real reason for this post. I had to figure out another way to cut cost….So I went back to making my own Laundry Detergent. OK my hair is not really why I went back to making my own. We just ran out of the other box of stuff that my husband bought when we ran out last time so I made it this time around. This time I used my blender to mix it all together and I LOVE how it turned out and it smells so good.
If you make it… here a a cute tag you can put on your bottle that I made! I like to double this recipe and then it last so much longer.
Have a wonderful day! Oh and leave a comment, I love reading peoples comments. So if you have never commented on my blog and you have been reading it for a while…at least say “Hi!”.

Kendra I wondered if you got the toothbrush and did you like it? Millie

I think the last part of your post about leaving comments must have been for me since I admitted yesterday in my e-mail that I’ve been blog-stalking you! 😉 I think your hair looks amazing! We moms deserve a splurge like that every now and then.

I made my own laundry detergent a couple months ago and just broke into our 2nd ice cream gallon bucket of it.

So, I’ve read your blog for awhile and decided to say hi. Danyal told me about it and it’s great!

Hi. I read your blog and feel very misled as you gave the impression that you were going to teach me how to make money… Instead I am just reminded that I need a hair cut and color… Sooooo worth every penny I have to say though. But I get it from my sis and I still feel like it hurts every time! I love your color- I noticed it Sunday but forgot to say something… It’s so pretty!

Ps…. Not making my own detergent. Ever. I am a tide girl 100% (:

So… yours is dry? I haven’t tried making it that way. I’m excited to try it, thanks! PS I have been “intending” to share my recipe online (about the same as yours, but wet). Perhaps I’ll get on that soon.

PS. Your hair looks great! 😀

Hi, Kendra. I honestly don’t pay much attention to that kind of thing, so I hadn’t noticed your hair looking “horrible,” but I did notice it looked very pretty when you dropped off my food basket. 🙂 I wanted to ask you how your laundry detergent works in our ridiculously hard water. When I first looked into making some, it seemed like it would create a lot of soap scum. Fels-Naptha might not do that, though; I guess I don’t know much about that particular product. Right now I buy Charlie’s Soap detergent and use STTP to soften the water. I don’t know if it cleans all that great, though. I feel like lately my whites are just getting dingier and dingier. What are your thoughts?
KelliAnn Christensen says
I meant STPP, not STTP. 🙂

I am going to have to try this recipe for sure. I color my own hair and it turns out great each time for only $7 instead of $60 or whatever they want to charge for it. You are so cute and I love your blog.

Where do you buy the washing soda and borax? and will my regular blender be able to handle mixing it? I have a Ninja…so you would think it would right?
BTW…I loved your lesson. I am in love with the BofM this year doing an in depth study using tools from theredheadedhostess.com. You should check out her blog.
If I lived by you we could remind each other when our hair looks horrible. Mine does right now, and yet I’m still waiting for someone to say something!
Miss you!

KelliAnn, I haven’t noticed any soap scum at all…but there are a few hard water stains in my washer, but that happend before I started using this stuff.
Brooke, I got the washing soda and borax by all the cleaning stuff at walmart. At my walmart it is all right by each other!
