From Sore Throats to Cleaning House….Great Uses for Vinegar

October 21, 2010 by The Things I Love Most

A while back a friend of mine started telling me of all the things that vinegar could do, from helping get rid of my sore throat to cleaning soap scum and toilets {Kind of weird….huh}.  I just had to buy The Vinegar Book by Emily Thacker.  Yup I have a book all about Vinegar, and I LOVE it!  Call me crazy, but if you owned the book you too would love it as much as I do!!

This Vinegar Book is amazing - find out tons of uses for vinegar!

Here is a statement from the book

“Apple cider vinegar contains the healthy goodness of apples, concentrated into a teaspoon of golden liquid.  It is packed with essential amino acids and healthful enzymes.  And so it comes as no surprise that some individuals have claimed this natural storehouse of vitamins and minerals will cure all the ails mankind – and even extend life and youthfulness.”

Not only does it help inside, but it is also antibacterial and can be used for cleaning!
Here is a great site to read about it!  In the book there are many recipes to aid in…

Health:

  • Athletes foot
  • Healthy colored hair
  • burns fat and melts away excess lbs
  • relieving Asthma
  • dandruff
  • frizzy hair
  • prevents blemishes
  • corns and calluses
  • Age spots
  • Itchy Welts, hives
  • Varicose vein discomfort
  • Headaches
  • hiccups
  • Leg Cramps

Fighting Disease:

  • Digestive problems
  • Eye infections
  • Aging
  • Heart Disease
  • Cancer
  • Arthritis discomfort

Cleaning

  • Basically anything and everything

This book has remedies for everything.  Either using regular vinegar or Apple cider vinegar.  Most everything is vinegar mixed with something else such as borax, baking soda, soap, etc.
It even has a recipe in it to make your own vinegar!
Because it’s not my book and I don’t feel like I should share a whole bunch of recipes without permission I will just share with you a couple that have helped me.  The book is really a good price so go here so if you are interested order yourself one!
My sister told me that her throat is killing her this morning so here is a simple recipe…

Sore Throat

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 tablespoons honey

Sip occasionally on syrup through out the day

Laundry

1/4 cup vinegar to load
It will help brighten clothes and act as a fabric softener

My Cleaning Recipe from yesterday.  Sometimes I just use vinegar and water for cleaning and don’t add all the other stuff!
Health promoting Salad Dressing

1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
1/8 cup honey
Mix well and pour over salad!

If you have any questions let me know, and have a great day!!

do you use regular vinegar you buy at the store? Or is there a special RAW vinegar or something? Have you really noticed health benefits? I use it for cleaning and love it.

Jess I will copy off the info and bring it over.

Carrie I think it is better if it is organic. I have used BRAGGS from the health food store. For cleaning just regluar old stuff is fine. I have used it for sore throats and it has helped a lot. I also took it straight for a while and felt good. I am already pretty healthy so I guess it’s hard to notice what it is actually doing!!
