I am so excited for conference this year, but it is always a challenge to keep my kids busy and happy during that time. Since I have 3 that will most likely be needing my attention I knew I needed to come up with something for them to do. I remember when I was a kid I didn’t have to watch the Saturday session except for the prophets talk, and on Sunday I had to stay in the TV room the whole time and be reverent. My parents would have coloring books and puzzles for us to do and we loved it. We like our kids to listen to most of it or at least be in the room. I usually just print off the Conference Packets that you can get online, but my kids {especially} the younger ones struggle with them and get bored after awhile. I looked at the packets this year and took a lot from them for this project. Also after seeing a lot of fun ideas on Pinterest I came up with a mixture of a bunch of them to help my kids have a good time during conference.
Here is how I put it together….
I printed off the pictures of the 12 Apostles and the 1st Presidency {So 15 pictures} and taped them to 15 lunch sacks! I got the pictures from the my Conference game here. I know that we might not hear all the Apostles, but after the Priesthood Session we will take the ones off that won’t talk and just put “Other” on the bag! You could also just put numbers on them.
These will be sitting out in the morning when they wake up along with a yummy breakfast {Not sure what yet…Any suggestions?}
Here is what is in each of the packets {you can pick any apostle in any order}…
#1 President Monson I printed off {since he talks more than once} three little coloring activities that have to do with him from the conference packets here.
#2 A New Puzzle from the dollar store {I actually got two} #4 Eye Spy Pictures from here #5 Conference Bingo {They can be playing this throughout the whole 2 days} found here. #6 Pop some Popcorn and just listen to the talk while eating
#7 A Painting Project {I just bought some wooden animals from the Dollar store} #8 Cut and Color a Paper Doll Chain of the General Authorities I got here
#9 Make your own Mr. Potato head I used it from here. You will also need a plastic cup, dirt and grass seeds!
#10 Sunflower Seeds – Need I say more! My kids love to open these up and eat them!
#11 Straw Weaving – I saw this on Pinterest and am excited to try it. It originally came from here. I would recommend having it ready so you can show them really fast and continue listening.
#12 Coloring Books and New Crayons
#13 Apostle Match Up that I got from here
#14 Play With Animals {I might even put some cars in for my car loving 3 year old}
#15 Playdough
I spent about $12 dollars total for all 4 kids. I am using my own Playdough and animals. I am going to have a blanket for each kid to sit on and a plastic placemat for when they paint or play with their playdough. I hope this works. I am excited to sit and listen to conference and have the kids happy. In between sessions we are going to go outside and get some energy out! I hope you all have a wonderful conference in a couple weeks!
