Homemade Ornament Exchange Party & Nativity Ornament

December 8, 2014 by The Things I Love Most

This last month a friend of mine invited me to a Homemade Ornament Exchange Party!  I was excited to participate, but didn’t figure out the ornament I would make until about 2 days before.  Talk about procrastination!  I found a lot of cute stuff online so I won’t take credit for my cute ornament, I looked all over interest trying to find the perfect one that wouldn’t be too hard to make since I only had two days.  I found this one here and went with it!  The only thing I added was the pipe cleaner and star instead of putting the star on the string!  The kids helped and I thought it turned out pretty cute!

 Directions
3 old fashion clothes pins
Paint
Fabric
Wooden Star
Pipe Cleaner
Twine
Glue Gun
Black Marker
It was really easy to assemble.
  1. Cut one of the clothes pins in half.
  2. Paint the bases of each clothes pin.
  3. Paint or use marker for the eyes.
  4. Glue the Star and Pipe cleaner together.
  5. Cute out fabric in a rectangle, I got mine from an old pair of shorts and a shirt that were going to the thrift store.
  6. Glue around the top half of each clothes pin.
  7. Glue Mary and Joseph together with the pipe cleaner in-between.
  8. On the back glue the twine so that it can hang on the tree.
  9. Wrap the baby in a white piece of fabric and glue to Mary and Joseph.
There were 6 people attending the party so we each made six ornaments and came home with six new ornaments.  I was a little stessed because I don’t’ know how people decorate their tree fancy.  I have a tree that I decorate and one that my kids decorate so I chose to make more of a mix so that they could put it on either kind of tree!  My kids stole all these cute ornaments and put them on our tree in the family room when I got home!  I love how they look!

Do you like making homemade ornaments? You should host a homemade ornament gift exchange! They are lots of fun!!
