Asia Flash Cards {Bit Cards}

May 2, 2013 by The Things I Love Most

Growing up one of the big ways I learned things was through “Bit Cards”.  My mom called them that because they were “bits” of information on a card.  We had musical instruments, countries, states and capitals, bones, birds, animals.  You name it we had a bit card for it.  (and sometimes a song that went with it)  Not to brag or anything, but by the time I was 6 I knew all the presidents of the United States 🙂  I was a pretty dang cool six year old 🙂 As soon as my oldest was 3 I started making my own Bit Cards to teach her! And she was a pretty dang smart 3 year old!! LOL
This year in The Family School we are studying Asia for Geography.  As part of the curriculum they had these flashcards for us to print off so the kids can learn the names of the countries and their capitals.  I couldn’t afford printing all 50+ cards so I put 4 on a sheet to print so my kids could have little cards to study themselves.  I glued the names of the countries and capitals on the back and then used my awesome Purple Cows Hot and Cold Laminatorto laminate them!

I thought I would share them with you.  I am going to be making a bunch over the summer so I will share those with you also!  They are really easy to use.  All you do is hold the card out facing the kids say the name and have them repeat it.  Soon enough they will be saying the name along with you!

Pages 16-20 are just a different view of pages 12-15.  So you won’t need to print them all.

On each card there is a number and that card correlates with the numbers on the list below.  I just printed the list and cut them out and glued the names right on the back, but you can also just write them on the back of each one also.
