Dare to Stand Alone

July 29, 2013 by The Things I Love Most

During Young Women’s today we talked about what it means to “Take Upon us the Name of Jesus Christ”, which is a covenant we make at baptism.  We discussed that it means we do what he would do, we try to live our lives like he would, and we work hard to be an example of him.  I shared this great video about daring to stand alone.  We discussed how the youth in this video are a great example of taking upon them the Saviors name!  It is not always easy to stand alone and be an example, but I know that when we do we will be blessed and have a much happier life!

My kids liked that video so much we had to watch it over and over again.  I decided to make a sign for them to have to remember the message of the video.

We sang this song for opening today and I reiterated to them how important it is for them to remember they are “greatest when they walk with God!”

To Become Like Him
Jenny Phillips/Tyler Castleton
You look around you
And you wonder if you’ll measure up
In this world it seems you many never be enough
Don’t let anyone convince you that it’s true
So much beauty lives inside of you
And you are enough
Just look up
Remember you are greatest
When you walk with God
When His light is in your eyes
You are truly strong
You don’t have to prove your beauty
In the eyes of men
You are divine within
You were sent here to become like Him
When you’re uncertain
Of the place you hold and who you are inside
He will share with you your part in His design
Seek for His meekness
Seek to emulate His life
And you will feel Him always by your side
You have His love
Just look up
Holiness, love, good works, mercy
To be like Him
Charity, hope, truth, and wisdom
To be like Him
I hardly ever blog on Sunday, but I had to share!  Have a wonderful day!!

Hi Kendra! What a wonderful encourager you are to your family. Thank you for posting how you show your kids how much they are loved.

Of course, all they have to do is look at you. The love of God certainly flows through.

    Peace in Christ,
    Ceil
