Fun Christmas Memories

December 13, 2012 by The Things I Love Most

Happy 12-12-12!  Only 12 more days until Christmas.  This month is flying by.  We have had some great days of doing our 25 Days of Christmas activities.  I think the two favorites so far have been getting out our Christmas pillow cases and falling asleep to me reading stories by the Christmas tree and decorating their gingerbread houses.
Aren’t they so stinkin cute!?!  Every year we have tried to do this it doesn’t work out.  Someone is too hyper or someone won’t stop talking so I send them all to their beds.  This year they told me they would be really good.  So I read, and read and read until all of them were asleep.  I read stories that had no pictures, just heart felt stories.  It was a sweet night!
And of course our annual gingerbread house day.  We were supposed to do this a week ago, but my kids insisted daddy had to be here to do this, so on Sunday after church we whipped together our own little Christmas village.  I love this set from Walmart because each kid and parent gets their own house. Daddy did the house, I helped everyone and decorated the town.  This year I told everyone the candy was a free for all.  Whatever was on their house was theirs.  4 days later, most houses are totally bare đŸ™‚  Oh well!
What are some fun things you have done with your family?

I love that tradition! What a fun idea. I’m going to have to try that with my kiddos. I’ve been slacking on the traditions this year, still trying to unpack. One thing we have done is sit by the tree and sing a Christmas song and put a little ornament on our advent calendar each night. Hopefully next year we’ll be in full holiday spirit!
