When I was a little girl I remember sitting in front of the television during General Conference, coloring in my coloring book, and sort of listening to the talks. The thing I remember most about every conference is sitting straight up, stopping my coloring and listening to the talks by President Thomas S. Monson. His stories were always easy to understand, fun, and taught me about how Gods hand is in our lives just through a simple story.
Growing up I was taught to look for the hand of God in my life. Being taught to do this I have found that I can see the hand of God guide and direct my life daily. From small promptings, to a phone call from a friend, or just in a decision about my day. This year I have been teaching this same principle to my children. Trying to help them recognize when God’s hand has touched their lives. It’s been fun to see them realize this through small and simple things like finding something they have lost, or making little decisions about their days.
This wonderful book, Consider the Blessings, was put together in celebration of President Monson’s anniversary of becoming an apostle 50 years ago. With 50 great true accounts that President Monson has shared over the years. I love his stories and was excited to receive this book. It amazes me how well he remembers and is able to retell these stories years later. It makes me want to remember to write down the times when I have seen God’s hand in our life more often.
One of the things I love about this book is the stories are short, and perfect for a family home evening, quick spiritual messages or just a nice Sunday read. My daughter picked it up the other day and has read almost the whole book. It’s fun to see my kids interested in reading these books!
I loved this quote and had to share it with you….
