Dating Ideas for Utah Couples
By Alek Sabin
Do you and your significant other have a bit left over from that summer budget? Why not take some time for a special night out for the two of you? While we can’t make any claims towards cities that never sleep, Utah is full of activities that can be especially romantic, if you let them be! There’s a special flavor of charm that Utah has that can’t be found in any other state. And fortunately, when you’re taking part in local events, you can usually find things that will help you stick to your budget. Here are some fun dating ideas for couples in Utah that are looking for a good time…
Get out to those mountains!
If you live in northern Utah, then you know that one of the most fantastic amenities that our state has is on the horizon at all times: our mountains. Our little slice of the Rocky Mountains provide a gorgeous playground for a variety of outdoors activities. If it’s the winter time, you and your significant other can grab your skis and enjoy an entire day at any of the numerous luxury resorts that Utah offers. In the summer and fall, you can get together for a lovely day hike to watch the sunset, or even grab your tent and sleeping bag to get away for an entire weekend, together!
Check out any of our 5 National Parks
If you haven’t quite itched your outdoor desires by trekking through the Wasatch or Uinta mountains, then you’re in the right place to go get some more. Utah is home to FIVE different national parks that are all beautiful and unique. If you and your significant other are looking for something special to do, look at all of the natural wonder that lies in Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Arches National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, and Canyonlands National Park. Nobody does the desert right in the United States like Utah does, and each of these places make for incredible camping!
Look at what’s going on in Salt Lake City
We get it. It seems like the only things to do in Utah were the things that were here before mankind ever laid eyes on it. However, while we can’t boast the city with the wildest nightlife, Salt Lake City is full of different events going on every week, and there are some real gems, if you take the time to look for them. When planning a date, always check what’s going on in Salt Lake City that particular day, whether it’s the large Utah Arts Fest, or the Twilight Concert Series, where you can see amazing artists like The Roots, Grimes, or St. Vincent for as little as $5! Check out this link for a list of local outdoor events, most of which are cheap or free.
Check out Wheeler Farm
If you’d like to get outside, but doing something a little more calm and quaint than tackle amazing desert hikes in a National Park (we understand it’s not for everyone), then Utah has other amazing historic locations that are delightful to explore with your significant other. One of these is Wheeler Farm, which is a 75-acre farm that is full of different things to do, depending on the season. There are tours through the historic buildings, farmer’s markets, fun with animals, and a variety of different festivals that go on, depending on the time of year.
Explore Temple Square
One of the most stunning examples of historic architecture are the buildings within Temple Square. Indeed, it’s one of our most touristy manmade attractions. Whether you are Mormon or not, Temple Square is a great place to walk around and get some great views of Masonic architecture. Going up in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building also gives you a wonderful view of the rest of the valley.
Get to Park City
If you’d like to get out of town for a little bit, but not go too far, then heading to Park City is a great way to get the best of both world that Utah has to offer. Like Salt Lake City, Park City often has a variety of different events going on, depending on the season. For example, Park City is the most happening place in Utah during January, when the Sundance Film Festival is in full swing. Park City also places you right next to the ski resorts in a beautiful mountain setting.
