I don’t know how she does it, but Josi S. Kilpack did it again with another amazing book! I just read her book Lady of the Lakes in January, and 3 months later she has another amazing book the was just released this week called The Vicar’s Daughter, another Proper Romance published by Shadow Mountain.
I let me niece who LOVES proper romances read it first. She is 18 and a super fast reader and devours books in a day. She was down visiting with her family and I told her she could read it first if she wrote the review! She was thrilled. A Guest Blogger Reviewer! So today, Eliza who really should have been born during the regency period, will tell you her thoguhts on the book!
Eliza’s Review on The Vicar’s Daughter:
I loved this book! It was definitely one I did not want to put down for anything, even sleep! The characters in the book were very well developed and the author revealed surprising insights about each throughout the novel. Cassie is a very relatable protagonist that I sympathized with as she made her way through her challenges. I honestly had no idea how this story would turn out, which is a rare occurrence for someone who reads as often as I do. The plot twisted just enough to keep me intrigued and pushing for Cassie to get Mr. Glenside in the end. Regency romances are my go-to genre right now, and this book had a refreshing look on courtship, social standing, and integrity. This one will go on my ‘read again’ bookshelf for sure!
Synopsis:
Cassie, the youngest of six daughters in the Wilton family, is bold, bright, and ready to enter society. There’s only one problem: her older sister Lenora, whose extreme shyness prevents her from attending many social events. Lenora is now entering her third season, and since their father has decreed that only one Wilton girl can be out at a time, Cassie has no choice except to wait her turn.
Evan Glenside, a soft-spoken, East London clerk, has just been named his great-uncle’s heir and, though he is eager to learn all that will be required of him, he struggles to feel accepted in a new town and in his new position.
A chance meeting between Evan and Lenora promises to change everything, but when Lenora proves too shy to pursue the relationship, Cassie begins to write Mr. Glenside letters in the name of her sister. Her good intentions lead to disaster when Cassie realizes she is falling in love with Evan. But then Evan begins to court Lenora, thinking she is the author of the letters.
As secrets are revealed, the hearts of Cassie, Evan, and Lenora are tested. Will the final letter sent by the vicar’s daughter be able to reunite the sisters as well as unite Evan with his true love?
