Are your kids ready for summer? Mine are, although when I told them we were still going to do a little school over the summer they moaned. LOL Mean Mommy! 🙂 One of our favorite activities in the summer is swimming! We head out to lakes, splash parks, the river and swimming pools at least once a week! It’s important to have good gear when we go, so today I wanted to share with you my favorite swim gear!Getting your kids ready for summer swimming is important! Having the right gear to take to the pool makes a huge difference in how long you will get to stay, and if your kids will have fun! It also gives you more peace and assurance that they’re going to be safe.

A Good Pair of Goggles– I love Frogglez
I recently found these amazing goggles called Frogglez! Frogglez Goggles were created by a dad who was frustrated with swim goggles. I saw these and knew right away my kids would love them. We have bought a lot of goggles in the last few years that break or my kids hate. My kids were always coming over to me to adjust their goggles, or to tell me how bad they hate them because they are “too tight”, ” keep falling off” or “they hurt my eyes”. These Frogglez goggles are amazing. We have already worn them to the pool a few times this year and my kids love them and haven’t complained to me once. With a head strap that they can put on themselves, easy to adjust, stays in one place and doesn’t pull hair, these Frogglez are the perfect goggles.
The other cool thing about these goggles is that they float! So you won’t have to be diving to the bottom of the deep end to find them! If you already have a pair of goggles that you love, but you hate the head strap, you can purchase the Frogglez® Universal Adjustable Strap for only $12.97!

A Good Swimming Suit – SwimZip Sun Safe Swimwear
To me a good swim suit that’s going to last more than one season is essential. I know my kids grow fast, but I like to be able to hand down their swim suits to their younger siblings. I love these Rash Guard Sets from SwimZip that easily zip up and protect the kids from sun rays, and makes it so they can use less sunscreen! My son has the Suffer Dude set from their Boys Swimwear line and I LOVE it, and obviously, as you can see from his awesome picture, he is a pretty cool Suffer Dude!
SwimZip has Sun Safe Swimwear for Babies, Boys, Girls and even Women! I love their rash guard shirts and dresses for women! I might just have to give myself one for Mother’s day! 🙂 They have SO many cute styles and designs to choose from! Your kids are going to be the cutest kids at the pool with these swim suits!
I had a concern when I first saw these suits about the zipper irritating their skin! I didn’t have to worry about that for long since they have a piece of swim fabric to fold over the front and back of the zipper! Also just FYI, all SwimZip swimwear styles provide 50+ UV Protection and block 98% UVA & UVB rays.

Sunscreen – The Honest Company Natural Sun Screen
There is a lot of controversy going around about Sunscreen. I saw so many post on Facebook last year I was sick of it. If I can afford the natural stuff I get it, but if not oh well! Call me a bad mom, but sunburns are no fun. I got this sunscreen from The Honest Company for only $6 shipping because I had a credit from inviting a friend to join. Normally it runs $13.95 on their site, but I did see at Costco they were running a deal for 2 lotions for about that same price. So two for one is a great deal! I like this sunscreen because it’s…
- Naturally derived, unscented, broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB) SPF mineral sunscreen – everything you need, nothing you don’t
- Easy to apply, non-greasy, non-whitening (non-nano!) zinc oxide sunscreen provides safe, effective sun protection for the entire family
- Zinc oxide is the ONLY active sunscreen ingredient – NO synthetic chemical sunscreens
- Water resistant – tested effective for up to 80 minutes
- Hypoallergenic • Non-Nano • Mineral-Based • Biodegradable • Reef-Friendly • Water Resistant (80 minutes) • pH Balance
Read more about it HERE, and if check out their site, they also have a lot of other great swim products such as Super Cute Swim Diapers, Sunglasses & Sun Hats.
Flotation Devises: Kid’s Puddle Jumper Life Jackets
I have five kids, but unfortunately I don’t have five sets of eyes. Wouldn’t that be nice! I know, for the most part, that my older kids that have been through swim lessons are more safe than my younger ones. I still like to check on them and make sure they are ok. You can usually find me in the kid pool with my two babies and then every few minutes scanning the other sections of the pool for my older kids! Most pools don’t allow floaties and tubes anymore, which is how we did it with my younger kids. A lot of the pools we go to have life jackets to use now, but I hate regular life jackets for my little ones. They can hardly move, and if they do they end up on their backs and then crying for me to take their life jackets off, which I won’t so then they cry and I’m then the mean grumpy mom at the pool that wants to go home because my toddlers are being CRAZY! That’s were my new favorite flotation device comes in!
Last year I saw a lot of little kids with these on. They are called Puddle Jumpers or 2-in-1 safety jackets. I was in awe at the children’s freedom, yet safety as I noticed how much they enjoyed swimming with them. I got two of them this year, and let me tell you, they are by far my most favorite life jacket in the world. My kids are happy, I don’t have to keep flipping them over, and they don’t cry and complain to go home. My 2 year old even went out to the deep-end with his big brother and floated around with him and stayed right up out of the water!
Last year he and his brother would try to do this and they would get a face/mouth full of water! This year they are going to be much happpier!
You can get them HERE on AMAZON or I have also seen them at Costco and Walmart!
So there you have it, our favorite Swim Gear! The only other items that might make your pool experience a little better are some great sun glasses and good pool towels! Other then that you are good to go!
And like I mentioned earlier in the week, May 16th is Nathional Learn to Swim Day. Make sure you get those kids in lessons or that you are out there teaching them how to swim this summer! If they are still to little, make sure you have good swim gear to keep them safe at the pool. Too many kids drown each summer because they don’t know how to swim, or their parents just weren’t paying attention. I’ve been there. I had a child walk right over to the pool last year and jump right in. Thankfully the life guard jumped in right after him. The next week I put him in Swim Lessons!
Do you have any favorite swim gear that you can’t go to the pool without?
Aliza B says
My kiddos had the Puddle Jumpers and loved being able to swim with them on, and I loved how it added a little extra flotation for them.
I’ve wanted to buy the Honest sunscreen, but I didn’t know where to find it other than their website (I really don’t like online shopping because my info got stolen once). Thanks for letting us know that it is at Costco. I’m running over there today and will look for it.
