I want to give a quick shout out for this amazing book The Gospel at 30,000 feet by Elder Uchtdorf! I received it free from Deseret Book publishing, but decided to listen to it on Bookshelf (If you don’t have bookshelf yet, check it out HERE, it is the best!) I love reading books, but sometimes I don’t have time to, so listening to them is so nice! I also loved this book becuase Elder Uchtdorf is the reader, and I love listening to him!
I read/listened to this book just this last week after hearing about a lot of hard things people are going through, and also having a lot on my mind in regards to question I have about my own life. You know, life plans! Anyway, I loved this book. I love all of his airplane analogies. He is so wise and has so much to teach us all!
One of the quotes in the book that struck me the most was in the section entitled “Taking Flight” He talks about decision making and quotes Elder Marion G. Romney…
You can make every decision in your life correctly if you can learn to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This you can do if you will discipline yourself to yield your own feelings to the promptings of the Spirit. Study your problems and prayerfully make a decision. Then take that decision and say to him, in simple, honest supplication, ‘Father, I want to make the right decision. I want to do the right thing. This is what I think I should do; let me know if it is the right course.’ Doing this, you can get the buring in your bosom, if your decision is right…When you learn to walk by the Spirit, you never need to make a [wrong decision].”
I really needed to read that quote. Sometimes I forget how much God wants us to ask him for guidance in the decisions we make…espeically small ones. He cares about every decision we make big or small and wants us to come to him in “honest supplication” and talk to him, tell him what we feel we should do.
The book is full of so many great quotes! Here is another favorite…
