A Gift for the Whole Family – Our Family Council Journal

December 22, 2016 by The Things I Love Most

Sometimes while I am listening to General Conference talks I think to myself, oh I need to listen to this talk again so that I can get ideas for our family. Then I forget which talk it was.  A few weeks ago a lady in our ward that was teaching Relief Society reminded me of this wonderful talk given during General Conference of April 2016 by Elder Ballard.  The talk is all about having family councils. I remember that while listening to the talk I felt like we were doing some good things regarding family council in our home, but that I wanted to do more. The teacher and relief society reminded me of some stuff I wanted to implement in my own family.A Gift the Whole Family - Our Family Council Journal

Recently Deseret book published a wonderful book called Our Family Council Journal. It is a very simple journal to record your family councils. It was inspired by M Russell Ballard Council for families to conduct regular family councils. It has some great quotes from the talk throughout the book. I am excited to start using it this next year.

Our Family Council Journal

“Family councils can be a place of unity, loyalty, and loving support and have always been needed. The Lord has provided the council system to strengthen, protect, safeguard, and nurture our most precious relationships. The family council can provide a time during which family members can learn to understand and love one another. A simple record of these councils—kept in a book like this—may become a precious family history document in the years to come.”

Inspired by Elder M. Russell Ballard’s counsel for families to conduct regular family councils, this journal can be a helpful tool in making note of items discussed, keeping track of “next steps” and assignments, or simply recording humorous or sweet moments you’ll want to remember. Included is an introduction by Elder Ballard outlining different types and formats for family councils as well as possible discussion topics, a list of suggestions for using the journal, guided journal pages with space for meeting minutes, and extra lined pages for additional notes. Interspersed with inspirational quotes from Elder Ballard on the importance of families and family councils, this is the perfect gift to keep families motivated.

You can purchase the book HERE through Deseret Book, or on Amazon. This would make a great gift for family members. Sisters, brothers, cousins or friends!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own.
