Bertolli Meatball Subs – Made in Minutes

February 11, 2016 by The Things I Love Most

We are big time Italian-inspired meal fans around here, but we get sick of the traditional lasagna and spaghetti every week. I say every week, because I honestly make one or the other every week. My husband when we go to sub shops always gets meatball subs.  I have never had one until a couple of weeks ago when I was out running errands and decided to get one and try it for myself.  It was really good, but expensive, so I decided it would be cheaper and probably even better if I made them at home. Bertolli Meatball Subs Made in Minutes

I am a very quick meal type of person. I like to have it be healthy, but not have it take a long time to prepare.  I once made my own pasta sauce, and while it tasted fine, I told my husband I would never do it again, and that we would stick to the beautiful glass bottles of pasta sauce, like Bertolli! Definitely one of our favorite brands!  I mean who doesn’t like a company that has been around over 150 years that originated in Italy!  Bertolli has amazing pasta sauce, and this one is delicious.  I also love the Bertolli® Alfredo sauce. But for these Meatball Subs the 5 Cheese was perfect!Bertolli Meatball Subs Made in Minutes Funny story about the day I made these thought.  I came home from running errands, dropped my kids off to stay home while I went and coached a basketball game.  I knew this meal would be fast so I dumped my 50 frozen meatballs, two bottles of Bertolli Five Cheese Sauce, and 1 cups of Honey BBQ sauce in the slow cooker and  ran out the door!  I got home an hour later and yup, I had forgotten to turn it on.  So it was now 7:00 and dinner wasn’t ready.  I transferred the food over to my Deep Covered Baker, shoved it in the microwave for 10 minutes while I cut veggies, and it was hot and ready to go in minutes!

Bertolli Meatball Subs

Ingredients:

  • 2 bottles Bertolli® Five Cheese sauce
  • 1 cups Honey BBQ sauce (any brand that you like or make your own)
  • 1 bag of 50 meatballs
  • 1 head of romaine lettuce
  • 1 cup of Parmesan Cheese
  • 1-2 Avocado sliced
  • Ranch dressing
  • 8-10 Hoagie buns

Directions:

Combine sauces and meatballs in slow cooker and cook on high for 1-2 hours.  You can also cooking the microwave in a microwave safe dish for 10-15 minutes. Chopped and slice up veggie. Slice buns and layer ranch, meatballs and sauce, cheese.  You can broil in toaster oven for 2 minutes to melt cheese. Add veggies and Enjoy!Bertolli Meatball Subs Made in Minutes

I placed the meatball subs and all the fixin’s out on the table and the kids devoured them! Sadly, my husband was at a work training until the next day when I took one to him for lunch! His text to me after he ate it said, “WOW, Put that on the dinner favorites list!  YUM!!”  My husband likes my cooking, but he doesn’t say that a lot!

I added fresh parmesan cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and sliced avocado.  I toasted some in my toaster oven with just the meatballs and cheese to melt the cheese a little more.   Bertolli Meatball Subs Made in Minutes

As you can tell my kids LOVED the Meatball Subs.  I made them on smaller buns for these two, but my 4 year old asked for a second!  YUMMY!Bertolli Meatball Subs Made in Minutes Bertolli Meatball Subs Made in Minutes -Meatball Subs

We had a lot of left over Meatballs and sauce so we used that for spaghetti two nights later!  Two meals in one!!  I like that idea!
