I am back and ready for 2013

January 3, 2013 by The Things I Love Most

How in the world are all of you?  I had a wonderful Christmas/New Years break and am ready to get back to life back to reality……starting Monday.
Why in the world does school here start today…on a Thursday?  That is completely absurd.  So since I have the privilege of homeschooling my little munchkins and we just got home from visiting family for a week and my kids are still loving their Christmas toys, I am going to start school when normal people should and start on Monday.  Besides it is my sons birthday today and I can’t imagine going back to school on his birthday…It’s like “Happy Birthday…now go get all your school books out and sit here and wish you were playing with all your Christmas/Birthday toys!”  Not gonna do it, besides I already cried because he is getting to old to fast, I can’t believe he will be baptized next year.
Anyway, wow!  2012 went by so fast.  It was an amazing year and I learned a lot.  It was a year full of trust and faith in Gods plan.  It was a pretty dang good year for the most part.

  • We got a new house!  Yeah we have waited for that for so long. (but we do miss our old neighbors)
  • I learned a lot in my calling in the Relief Society Presidency, and miss it a lot, but am excited to do something new.  I got called right before Christmas to teach the Mia Maids (the 14/15 year old girls in my church)  I am nervous, but excited.  I haven’t been in YW’s since I was 19.
  • I found out I was going to have another baby!
  • I helped a friend start a blog and am learning so much about Food Storage and Emergency Preparedness.
  • My husband got his Associates Degree and is loving his calling in the Stake YM’s
  • I am homeschooling all of my kids, which has been really challenging (in a good way, even though it is hard) and a lot of fun.
  • I turned 30…that was rough
  • The only real hard thing that happened was that my husband being let go from his job a week before Christmas (due to lack of funds in the company), but thank goodness for his awesome side job of doing Christmas Lights we are doing just fine, and he is actually going to go back to school full time and work part time and try to finish his schooling in 18 months.  It’s going to be hard to adjust, but we know we are moving in the right direction in our life.

I have lots of goals I need to make for the new year, and I will.  If you haven’t read my post on Goal Setting you should.  We plan on doing this on Monday for Family Night.
Here is a little highlight of our Christmas break!
I cut my bangs right before Christmas and am loving them…(oh and I learned a new magic trick on how to form glowing balls of fire in my hand!)

I had a girls night party with some friends and played a really fun game called Quelf…(sorry no pictures of that)
We had a wonderful Christmas Dinner…
My husband was really excited about the gift I gave him for Christmas…
My kids did great playing all the roles in the Christmas Eve Nativity…
We went sledding, which I usually don’t like, but how could I not sledding with these cute kids…

We had a great time with our family, but are glad to be home and get back to normal life!

I am excited for this new year and what is to come.  More on my goals on Monday!  Have a great rest of a break, and go eat a little more chocolate, or any sweets for that matter.  As if you didn’t have enough over Christmas break, my healthy eating starts….hmm let me think about it….Monday….maybe! (Being pregnant over the holidays is the best ever!)

Wow, you did have quite a year. I loved your thoughts and pictures. My son is doing the same thing as your husband. He is going back to school. They have 7 children; which is a concern; but they have it all figured out. I know that it will be hard; but I feel really good about it all. I am sure your husband will do great too.
Blessings to you all in this New Year.

German school here starts on Monday, and I’m not looking forward to it. Elementary school is only until noon, but I miss having my little guy home in the morning. I completely agree being pregnant for the holidays is great! You’re gonna gain weight anyway, so might as well enjoy it 😉
