Living In the Moment

June 6, 2012 by The Things I Love Most

Have you ever been at church and sat through a lesson wondering how in the world she knew exactly what you needed to hear?  That happened to me this week.  I have been so caught up with what our family needs, with trying to find a new place to live {which just this Sunday I felt like will be awhile}  So many times in life I get caught up in the future of what I want for my family, I see this road of where we are and where we want to be…And so many times I feel discouraged that it’s taking a long time to get to that road in our life.  I see other people achieving exactly what I want, and I get grumpy.  (No, I am not like this all the time, only times that I am looking at the housing market and trying to find the best place for our family to move and there is nothing).  And then I go to Relief Society and hear a lesson all about “living in the moment”, and I refocus and realize that I just need to be happy with my life right now.  She read this quote by Groucho Marx that I love…

“I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”
Groucho Marx

Life really is amazing.  God wants me to be happy.  I am the one the chooses to be down.  I am so blessed…I get to be a mom, a wife, I have food on my table, and a nice warm home and beds.  I really am so so grateful for all that I have.   I am going to now live in the moment and enjoy my life every day!!  I’m going to “be happy in it”!

And I promise, I am still here…just took a little blog break!

Hi Kendra! 😀 Just catching up on reading your blog today and thoroughly enjoying it! 🙂 I must comment on this one:

In addition to really having a big testimony of the importance of forgiveness, I can really associate with the bit about learning to live in the NOW. In fact, I’ve written several (perhaps 10) blogs about it (you can look at my label “Now/Today” if interested. Three that you may enjoy are the following (please don’t feel obligated to read if not interested! 🙂 – http://corinesmiles.blogspot.com/2011/05/grattitude-for-present.html,

You know what, I’ll just let you explore if you want to. 😉

Hoping you have an awesome “today!”
    Corine 😀

PS. I’ll try to start blogging on my blog again soon, perhaps weekly. 🙂
