I am so excited that summer is finally here. My kids are excited to play with their school friends and I’m excited to get outside, play at the lake or travel to visit family! One of the worst things to happen during the summer is to be sick. No one wants to be sick ever, but espeically during the summer. Today I am going to share 5 things that I feel like have helped my kids stay healthy. I am no doctor, but these tips seem to help, or I have seen the opposite happen and they got sick because we weren’t good at doing them! 🙂 So here are my 5 tips to keeping kids healthy this summer!
5 Tips To Keeping Kids Healthy This Summer
Drink a lot of Water – Not soda, not sports drinks….WATER!!! You can add fresh fruit to your water to give it a little added flavor. Drink half your weight in water daily! Kids especially need to make sure they are hydrated with how active they are during the day to help prevent heat sickness.
Take a good probiotic every Morning – Recently my children have been having some issues with their bellies, mostly their digestive health. A couple of weeks ago I had two kids that were having constipation issues and just not feeling very well in their stomach. I figured it had to be something they were eating, so I tried everything from having them not eat as many grains, to drinking less milk. Nothing seemed to work. I take a probiotic, but it never occurred to me to have my children take one also.
We were lucky to get to try this new probiotic made just for kids called Align Jr. Probiotic Supplement. You can use this link HERE to get$3 off of Align Jr. Probiotic supplements, like Align Jr., help your child’s digestive health. Probiotics are good bacteria. They provide health benefits that are essential for digestive health. With summer here their daily schedule changes a lot. A change in your children’s daily schedule, which usually changes their diet, may disrupt good bacteria. Taking a probiotic like Align Jr. helps support their digestive system.*
My little man loves having his “vitamins” every morning after he eats breakfast. Make it a routine that your kids do right after breakfast or before bedtime!
Get Plenty Of Sleep – My kids have been so tired from all that we have already done this summer. Getting 8-10 hours of sleep every night is important for growth in children and also so that they can have energy for the next hot summer day!
Wear Sun Screen, Cover Up or Find Shade – If you are going outside it’s important to cover up or wear sun screen. If you don’t have any or forgot it, try to find shade! Also sun glasses are great to help protect your eyes!
Reduce Sugar Snacks– My kids are always hungry, but a lot of you moms haven’t had your kids home for the last 9 months during the day. You will see your kiddos want snacks especially after they have been outside playing. When choosing snacks, make sure to keep it simple without a lot of sugar. A bag of fruits and vegetables will be healthier and provide more natural energy than any other snack, but you can find a lot of great snacks that are sugar free or you can make your own snacks to monitor how much sugar is in them.
I hope you all have a fun and kid healthy summer!
