I am so excited to tell you about this book I just read, Beauty and the Clockwork Beast by Nancy Campbell Allen. This book was unlike any I have ever read. Looking at the cover I thought this it would be another proper romance like Shadow Mountain publishes, which it is a romance, but you your typical regency romance! When I saw the words “Steampunk” I had no clue what that meant. So after reading a couple of chapters I looked up “Steampunk”, which basically is “science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.” So there are robots, werewolves, and cool machines.
My review on Beauty and the Clockwork Beast
I really loved this book, and would for sure recommend it. It’s clean, romantic and fun! There is mysteries to solve , and I loved that part the best. Who did what, why is her cousin keep getting sick, and who scared her in bed? I loved Lucy’s character and powerful person that she is. I was confused by the animations, which are like robot humans, but after reading about them during a chapter or two I really liked them. I’m not usually one to like books with ghosts and werewolves and vampires, but I loved this book. I loved the mystery behind it, the story behind
Synopsis:
When Lucy Pickett arrives at Blackwell Manor to tend to her ailing cousin, Kate, she finds more than she bargained for. A restless ghost roams the hallways, werewolves have been reported in the area, and vampires lurk across the Scottish border.
Lord Miles himself is clearly hiding a secret. He is brash and inhospitable and does not take kindly to visitors—even one as smart and attractive as Miss Pickett. He is unsettled by the mysterious deaths of his new wife, Clara, and his sister, Marie. Could Miles himself be to blame for the deaths?
Working together, Miles and Lucy attempt to restore peace to Blackwell Manor. But can Lucy solve the mystery of Miles? Can she love the man—beast and all?
