Halloween Ghosts Made from Cheesecloth

October 22, 2010 by The Things I Love Most

To me Halloween means fall, and I love fall!  I don’t love Halloween, but I like a lot that comes with it.  I love pumpkins, caramel apples, popcorn, dressing in fun costumes, eating candy, going to the farm to pick pumpkins and go through the corn maze, and basically just fall!  I guess what I don’t like is greedy kids, scary or creepy costumes, gross candy that looks like brains in a bottle and the evilness that might go with it. I love to participate in lots of fall events!!  I even like a few decorations, not to much though!  Growing up my mom would make fun crafts with us on Fridays for Fun Friday for home school.  I thought I would do that same thing with my kids!!  This year we decided we would make ghosts!!

Halloween Ghosts Made from Cheesecloth

The kids had a lot of fun making them and so did I!  I think they turned out great!!!

        • Starch
        • Package of Cheese cloth {found in the fabric sections of any store}
        • A quart jar or glass cup
        • A balloon

  • Pour starch in a bowl {or the bucket you take from the hospital after you have a baby 🙂  }
  • Cut cloth into about 16 inch strips {or however long you want}
  • Blow up balloons and put them on top of the jar to make the head.  Then make arms out of the pipe cleanerF1145 002
  • Take a piece of Cheese Cloth and dip it in starch.

    That does sound easy! And I actually have everything required to make it. Sounds like something we’ll do this weekend.

    I feel the SAME WAY about Halloween and fall. My husband and I did do some decorating… a little to surprise the kids 😉 It took about 30 minutes tops. 🙂

    Thanks for the reminder of all the fun things we should get busy doing before fall passes us by! 😀 Corine

    This is cute! And more importantly it’s easy enough that even though I’m not crafty, I could actually take this on.
    Thanks for the idea- and my kids thank you too!

    Oh those songs dance in my head all day. We too listen to that CD but it’s all year…. Thanks for the step by step with the ghosts. I had this idea in my file folder to try this year but have been putting it off. You have inspired me- thanks girl! They turned out so cute!
