Review – Softly Falling by Carla Kelly

November 19, 2014 by The Things I Love Most

I love reading books about a different time periods.  This book was set in the Wyoming Territory in the later 1800’s.  It’s a story about a girl named Lily who comes to live with her wayward father after being brought up in a home in England by her uncle.  She learns that her father has lost his Wyoming cattle ranch in a card game to handsome cowboy Jack Sinclair, no less! When a series of deadly winter storms set in, Lily and Jack must work together to save the cattle—as well as their hearts.

I absolutely loved this book.  It made me feel like I was in that time period and described things so clearly that I felt like I was there!  I put myself in Lily’s position and fell in love with the whole story!  I love Jack’s character and how he cares for Lily in helping her learn to survive in the territory.  This is a clean, romantic, lovely novel that is a great winter read!  I am always the kind of person that thinks after reading a good, clean, romantic book, I wish they had a movie for this book! But they never do. I guess I will have to just keep reading!

About the author: Carla Kelly is a veteran of the New York and international publishing world. The author of more than thirty novels and novellas for Donald I. Fine Co., Signet, and Harlequin, Carla is the recipient of two Rita Awards (think Oscars for romance writing) from Romance Writers of America and two Spur Awards (think Oscars for western fiction) from Western Writers of America. She is also a recipient of a Whitney Award for Borrowed Light and My Loving Vigil Keeping.

I really enjoyed your review on this one. I too love to read a clean romantic novel. I especially love a good Christmas story at this time of year.
