Sports Safety Tips for Kids + Ultimate College Football Sweepstakes

October 28, 2014 by The Things I Love Most

I love sports!  Growing up I played basketball, soccer, softball, and I was even clogged! Weak ankles is something I have always had to deal with.  I had to wear a brace on both ankles after spraining them numerous times. They look a bit dorky, but I don’t care, they save me.  I remember putting on ankle braces and shin guards for soccer.  It saved me but was quite bulky!  It’s way better than being carried of a field wanting to puke and pass out.   As I got older I ran Cross Country and had a lot of issues with my body then also, but I loved to do it.  So I pushed through it and made sure I was taking the precautions that I needed to.  We as parents want our kids to love sports, and be active! We also want them to be safe in whatever sport they participate in, but sometimes things happen.  We can try to help prevent injuries by making sure the kids are follow safety guidelines.  Here are some tips that I use to make sure I can help ensure their safety when participating in sports.

10 Sports Safety Tips for Kids

  1. Stay Hydrated.
  2. Wear proper safety equipment.
  3. Eat Healthy the day before and day of.
  4. Get good sleep the day before you perform.
  5. Check play area for possible hazards.
  6. Warm up and cool down before and after event.
  7. Follow the rules of your sport.
  8. Don’t be careless about your equipment. Pick it up after you are done using it.
  9. Make sue you are insured in case of an accident.
  10. If you are already injured, listen to your doctors orders about when you can start playing again.

Accidents happen. One way to help alleviate the financial strain of the costs associated with injuries is with supplemental insurance to help with out-of-pocket expenses. When a covered accident happens, supplemental accident insurance pays the policyholder cash benefits for the unexpected medical and everyday expenses that begin to add up almost immediately. When unexpected illness or injuries DO happen, make sure you’re prepared with supplemental insurance.  AFLAC supplemental insurance is a great choice to help take away the financial worries surrounding sports accidents. AFLAC can help with things like broken teeth, concussions, ambulance, and other costs that insurance may not fully cover. Click here to read more about covering your family’s unexpected costs.
