My Favorite Christmas Gift as a Child

October 29, 2014 by The Things I Love Most

When I was a little girl Christmas was always so magical to me.  I loved waking up on Christmas morning and seeing the stockings on our couch filled with fruits and treats, and looking at the tree shinning in the dimly lit room all lit up with presents underneath for everyone.  Santa usually left our stuff by our stockings unwrapped for us to enjoy right away.  We would play with those for a while and then sit around the tree and one by one (which I love best) watch each other open gifts!  I remember the one Christmas I ran into the room and saw a handmade wooden picnic table all set up with a checkered table cloth, dishes and fake food!  It was a dream come true, and was my favorite Christmas Gift ever.

I LOVED to play kitchen with my family and friends.  I remember that year I also got some fun pretend kitchen appliances to go along with it.  It was a Christmas I cherish.  I remember sitting at that table eating fake food and having picnics with my friends.  Now the table still sits in my moms family room for all the grandkids to enjoy.  I have been tempted to bring the table back to my house for my kids to enjoy, but I realized I love to see all my kids with their cousins squished on that table enjoying playing kitchen or eating their Sunday family dinners together!  I’ll get it here one day, but it will be a while.  It just belongs right were it is!  I have many fond memories of Christmas and have made some wonderful ones with my own family.

I am really excited for Christmas this year. I love everything about it. I love to buy people gifts and see the joy on their faces!  While we are very simple in what we get for each other, we never buy toys unless it is their birthday, so Christmas is a time I love to get them one special thing that they are super excited about.  They love walking around Walmart and telling me things they want.  They know they might get one of those special things under the tree, and maybe even Santa might bring them something else!

Walmart is having an in-story Toyland event where you can come and interact with this years hottest holiday toys and you or your children can become official Toy Testers!  I will be there on the 8th checking out some toys I know my kids will love! Check out this link and see if a Walmart near you is hosting one of these events in your area!

I would love to know what your favorite Christmas memory was?

I loved playing kitchen! That is a great table, so much better than most of the ones for kids today. It is wonderful that your mom still has it.

I love the table and had the same type of fun toys you pretended with as a kid. Really sparks a nice memory.
