Actress Kelly Packard Shares Tips for Healthy Eating, Drinking and Snack Options for Kids

June 12, 2014 by The Things I Love Most

With five kids in one house that LOVE food, we are constantly eating or cooking or cleaning it up!  It is on our minds all day long. I am very grateful that I am to the point in my life where I don’t have big fights to get my kids to eat their meals.  I have been there and done that, and had figured out some great ways to get my kids to be good eaters.  The 2 year old sometimes struggles, but for the most part, my kids will eat what I cook.  I am pretty picky about what I bring into the house as far as snack foods. No, I am not perfect, we do have a treat a day, but as far as their meals go I have worked pretty hard to get my kids to eat healthy and enjoy it!  With so many convenience foods on the rise and families being super busy many families don’t feel like they have the time to cook and are not even be educated to know what healthy eating looks like.

I was excited to get to ask actress and mother of four girls, Kelly Packard, for some great tips and tricks she uses with her kids to eat and drink their way to optimal health.   I love the ideas she shares.

Aren’t those fun tips!  I love her Smooshi rolls!  My kids wold love those!

Milk consumption in kids has been on a steady decline for decades.  There are so many other drink options out there that kids like more than milk.  This trend means that kids across the country are missing out on important vitamins and nutrients.  This definitely gets me thinking that I need to up my kids milk consumption.  One of the things I struggle with the most is getting my kids to drink anything during the day. They are always so busy and on the run.  I know that they are probably low on calcium and Vitamin D, and it’s for sure something we are going to work on.

As mentioned in the video Packard recommends these fun new MilkSplash products.  They are a zero calorie milk flavoring available in 5 kid-friendly (and adult friendly) flavors.  With only one squeeze milk will taste yummy!  MilkSplash is very low in sugar so when you only use one squirt it makes it zero calorie.  It does contain natural and artificial ingredients, but I have heard that they have an all natural version in the works!!
