10 Fun Family Night Activities In Honor of National Root Beer Float Day

Did you know today is actually National Root Beer Float Day?  It’s for sure a thing that should be celebrated!  I am a big A&W Root Beer fan + they also have a long history of creating family memories!  A&W wants to help celebrate family night with a quintessential summer treat: Root Beer Floats! Today I thought it would be fun to share activities we like to do as a family on family night!10 Fun Family Night Activities

Every Monday night our family has something we call family home evening or family night! It’s the night that we dedicate to spending time as a family.  We usually start the night with a prayer and then a spiritual thought. My kids rang from 5 to 15, so we can have some pretty good conversations with older kids, but the younger kids don’t have that long of an attention span. After our thought we usually have a fun family activity. Today I thought I would share with you 10 of our favorite things we like to do together as a family.10 Fun Family Night Activities

10 Fun Family Night Activities 

  • Family Game Night – Each child picks a game and we play it!
  • The Water Game – This is a game where somebody picks a category and we have a spray bottle or a cap filled with water. The person that is it picks something within that category and whoever guesses what the person is thinking gets sprayed in the face and then it’s their turn!
  • Go on a Walk
  • Go to a park and do obstacle courses.
  • Take a drive up the canyon
  • Family Service Project – Each member of the family gets to pick something that will only take 5 to 10 minutes and we as a family help them with it.
  • Invite another family over for an outdoor party
  • Make a family craft or project
  • Do yard work- My kids love this one 🙂
  • Family bike, scooter or rollerblade ride

After we do our activity we always have a family night treat!  Usually I try to make this simple. Sometimes we go get slushys, but since we are talking A&W Root Beer, there is nothing better than an A&W Root Beer Float!
