The Christmas Project – A Movie Review

October 24, 2016 by The Things I Love Most

I know it’s not even Halloween yet, but Christmas is my favorite time of year and I am pretty excited for the whole season of giving, which I think entails Thanksgiving also, right?  We start watching the typical Christmas movies in November because there isn’t enough time in December to watch all the ones we love!  Every year my kids are always very excited to see new Christmas movies. We have a few movies that we love to watch year after year, but it’s always fun to find a new Christmas movie to add to our movie collection. I’m excited to tell you about a new we got to pre-screen this week! The Christmas Project produced by Covenant Communications comes out on November 3rd.the-christmas-project-blog-tour-banner

It is about a family with four boys who are all very competitive, active, typical boys. The movie is set in the 80’s, so my kids kept asking me if we were like that when we were in school. It was pretty funny. To tell you about the movie but not give it all away, The Christmas Project is about the Buckley family which consists of 4 boys, their dad who loves adventure with his boys, and their mom who is pregnant with their fifth child, and hoping that it is a girl. There is also another family in the movie that are like the school bullies. They actually are pretty mean and the oldest boy is a big bully.  He is mean to the Buckley boys and bullies them around all the time at school.
The Christmas Project Movie
The Buckley Brothers every Christmas do something called “elfing”, where they pick a family that are in need and serve that family for the week before Christmas. When the boys find out who their mom wants them to elf, they are not very excited, but they do it anyway. The Buckley Brothers learn that serving people, even if they aren’t nice to you might help those that struggle with anger or sadness in their lives realize that people care about them. And it will also help your children understand that some peoples life circumstances are the same as their own.

My five-year-old also said that the movie was very touching and that he learned that he should be nice to the people that are mean to him. There are a couple things in the movie that I don’t necessarily love.  They are mean to each other,  there are mean words, and boys that are “checking out” the cute girl next store.  But the movie as a whole is really good and I think your kids will like it just as much as mine did. Just make sure your kids don’t make a plan to roll their brother off of his bunk bed after the movie is over like my boys did.  You’ll understand what I mean after you see it!  My four boys, and daughter absolutely love this new movie and were laughing throughout almost the entire movie during the funny parts.
