Each of us is an Innkeeper, Do We Have Room For Him? #ASaviorisBorn

December 24, 2015 by The Things I Love Most

My kids are so excited it’s Christmas!  I can’t believe it is here already. They woke up this morning running into our room yelling “Merry Christmas Eve”!  We have had a wonderful holiday season where we have shared in some great service activities, learned more about the true meaning of Christmas and participated in fun things each day.  Even still there have been days where I felt too busy, or too stressed out.  My mind this holiday season has been pulled in so many different directions. I hear many people say that we need to slow down and remember the importance of this holiday and the true meaning of Christmas. Sometimes with all we need to do, that can be hard to do.  I have worked each day to try to focus on the true reason for Christmas, and to make sure that I find room for him.  A question we can ask ourselves is, “Each of us is an Innkeeper, Do We Have Room For Him?”Each of us is an Innkeeper, Do We Have Room For Him?

Each of us is an Innkeeper, Do We Have Room For Him?

I have been thinking a lot this season of how busy we get, how busy the roads, the stores, and we as people are.  The other day as I was thinking of this, I thought of when Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem and how busy it was when they came, everybody was hustling in there own ways trying to get to their city to pay their taxes. Little did anybody know the great events that would happen that day. I started thinking about how our own little lives can be like the city of Bethlehem, we can be busy and not really paying attention to the importance of what this holiday is. I thought about the innkeeper and how he could have had the Savior of the world born in his inn, but he forfeit that because he didn’t have room for him.

Last week I read this great message called “Making Time for the Savior” in the Ensign by President Monson, I loved that he talked about exactly what I had been thinking.  I knew that the spirit had been trying to teach me something. To teach me that I need to ALWAYS have room for the Savior in my life!  Each of us is an Innkeeper, Do We Have Room For Him?

“There is yet time this year to extend the helping hand, the loving heart, and the willing spirit—in other words, to follow the example set by our Savior and to serve as He would have us serve. As we serve Him, we will not forfeit our opportunity, as did the innkeeper of old, to make time for Him in our lives and room for Him in our hearts.” by President Manson

May we not “forfeit our opportunity” to have the Savior always in our life.  He wants to be in our life, we just have to let him in!

I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ, That God sent his sone to be born on this earth, that he lived and died for me. That he loves me, as imperfect as I am, that through the atonement we can all be together again one day!  I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas season, and a great New Year!!  May we always have room for the Savior in our life!
