Christmas Advent Calendar Garland

November 27, 2015 by The Things I Love Most

With my 25 Days of Christmas Spirit, Service and Fun activities I shared with you this week, I thought of a lot of ways that I could use the cards.  I could just use them simply by putting the cards in a cute basket and letting the kids pick one each day, I thought of taping them up on the wall and putting them in the order we could do the, but then I thought of making a fun Christmas Advent Calendar Garland, and knew it would be perfect. Christmas Advent Garland

I had a lot of fun making it with my kiddos.  I went to the craft store and bought twine, little clothes pins, ribbons, 25 small brown bags, ribbon and a gold sharpie paint marker.  It cost around $15 dollars for all of it.  I printed off the cards and also our 25 days of Christmas scriptures to put in each brown bag.  I used old scrapbook paper and stickers I already had.

I have a huge wall in my kitchen that has nothing on it so I put two small nails in the top of each door frame and tied the twine around them.  We created a little swag so that the bigger kids could reach it.   Christmas Advent Calendar Garland

It was very simple and easy to make. The kids even helped. We just glued cute paper and painted the numbers on each bag and then stuck the activities for that day and the scripture in the bag.  I had a calendar out to look at to see if the activities would work for each day.  I also figure I can look in the bag the day before the kids pick it and make sure it’s something we can do that next day with our schedule. If it won’t work then I can switch days!  It’s so simple and easy to use now it makes me so excited!!

Then we spaced them equally and hooked them onto the twine with the small clothes pins!  I also added 2 colors of ribbon between each one, and painted some wood ornaments gold and silver to add to it!Christmas Advent Calendar Garland Christmas Advent Calendar Garland I love how this Christmas Advent Calendar turned out and am very excited to start using it on December 1st!  It took about an hour to make, but I am excited to be able to store it all year long!!  You can get all the printable HERE to make this calendar, you can also print of the 75 Service ideas over HERE!

Merry Christmas!
