I love having a clean house, especially a clean kitchen! I used to feel guilty when I read those cute poems about playing with the kids and not cleaning my house because I would miss their growing up if I spent time doing that. I love a clean, organized house. That doesn’t mean we don’t make messes around here. I don’t feel guilty for that anymore. You shouldn’t either. Having a clean house has nothing to do with what kind of mother you are. You can have a blast with your kids, make a mess and have a fun time…then you can clean it up quick and not make messes on top of each other. This is me. It’s how I function. I can’t function in a messy house. I know a good amount of amazing moms that have messy houses. You do what is best for your. For me cleaning is my out. I like to clean and organize my home. I also love to play with my kids! But they don’t really have anything to do with each other!
A lot off people ask me how my kitchen is so clean. I usually don’t have an answer. I just reply, “I don’t know, it just is.” I honestly don’t spend a lot of time on it. We eat, we clean up and repeat 🙂 This last month I thought about the question and came up with how I do it! This is not a deep clean. You might need to deep clean before this will work. This is just regular daily cleaning of your kitchen so it stays clean and you really don’t have to deep clean it very often.
Have a Clean Kitchen in 15 Minutes
Do The Dishes – Don’t leave dishes in the sink. Teach your family members to put them in the dishwasher. We try to remember to run a load at night and then the kids unload it in the morning so we have an empty dishwasher all day long. Also hand wash the big stuff. I recently found Palmolive® Multi Surface Dish Soap that I fill my sink up with after all my other dishes are in the dishwasher. I then wash the big stuff.
*Sidenote: This Palmolive® Multi Surface Dish Soap is awesome, and it smells good! I just found it at Walmart by the dish detergent. It can be used to clean dishes and on surfaces. It kills 99.9% of bacteria. I was thinking about this a few months ago when I used another brand of dish soap that didn’t say it killed bacteria to clean my counter after cutting meat. I wondered if it actually would clean the bacteria off well enough. Using Palmolive® now reassures me it does!
Wipe Down Table, Counter and Appliances – Since my sink is already full of Palmolive® Multi Surface Dish Soap, I get a rag and wipe down everything I can as fast as I can. It’s usually my bar, my counter, my table and usually one appliance that needs it. If you have a few more minutes wipe down a cupboard or drawer.
Sweep and Mop – This can be super quick. Grab a broom, sweep up! If it needs it, mop!
Clean up Clutter – Take the piles of “stuff” and put them where they belong or throw them away!
Maintain Cleanliness – If you follow these simple steps you will maintain keeping your kitchen clean. It might take a while to get your family on board not leaving papers on the counter, or dishes in the sink, but they will get used to it!
There are my tips to having a clean kitchen. Super simple, yet not hard at all. Check out a few of my other cleaning posts…
