Encourage Creativity with Disney Imagicademy: Mickey’s Magical Arts World

February 19, 2015 by The Things I Love Most

Last month I shared with you guys all about Mickey’s Magical Math World through Disney’s Imagicademy app for kids! I’m excited to tell you all about the new Mickey’s Magical Arts World.  Another great game through Disney’s Imagicademy brand!  Disney Imagicademy is a new learning brand designed for families with children ages 3 to 8 to inspire a natural love of learning and encourage kids to learn by creating, making and doing. Disney Imagicademy is the first comprehensive brand of interactive and connected early learning experiences that combines the Disney characters and stories families love, with a research-driven curriculum developed in conjunction with top academics and education experts.

My kids had so much fun playing this game this last week.  They all were huddled around the kitchen counter watching each other create characters, sketch, and create music!  I even got in on the fun and created my actor for an animated movie! She looked awesome!

This picture of my kids wasn’t even posed. They really were all gathered around my son while he was playing.  Ha. They especially love to create funny things like toy dogs dipped in chocolate!

About Mickey’s Magical Arts World

In Mickey’s Magical Arts World, children are invited to join Mickey and his friends in the most imaginative place around, as they explore a fully immersive world of creative arts. This is my daughters dream game!  She doesn’t play a lot of electronics, but this game was right up here alley, and she’s 11!  I love that it’s fun, interactive, creative, and they are learning all at the same time.

Children can create their own characters that can star in animated movies alongside beloved Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie, while they experiment with line, shapes and texture in Mickey’s Sketch Artist; Explore storytelling, improvisation, costume design, character development and role play with Donald’s Costume Play; Consider concepts of rhythm, tempo, patterns and melodies with Mickey’s Music Maker; Experiment with symmetry, balance and proportion as they design buildings with Minnie’s Art-chitect; and play with oodles of virtual arts and crafts with Pluto’s Crafty Creator!

My boys were having fun today in Mickey’s Drawing Studio where they learned easy and creative ways to draw different things!  My Little Mister loves the Musical Maker game where he can create his own music!  This game includes in app purchases, which I don’t do a lot, but this game is worth it because the kids aren’t just messing around with stupid games, they are actually learning stuff.  A few of my kids are naturally artistic, but some of them cold use a little help in developing creative art skills.  This game help children experiment with line, shapes, and visual texture as hone fine motor skills and learn to draw.  It also helps them exploring improvisation, storytelling, costume design, and character development as they role-play,  learn about the musical concepts of rhythm, tempo, pattern, and melody, examine symmetry, balance, proportion, harmony, texture, and hue as they design buildings,  and explore how materials work together while playing with virtual art materials, tools and processes!

Just like Magical Math World it also gives you access to Disney Imagicademy Parents.  Which is a free app that serves as a parent’s ‘go-to’ resource to connect with the Imagicademy community and gather information that can be used to engage with their child in meaningful ways.

The app will give parents their daily dose of what is possible and answer the question, “What can I do today to help my child grow?” through daily articles and Disney Imagicademy-inspired activities designed to help spark creativity and encourage imaginative learning. Disney Imagicademy Parents also serves as a portal into the children’s apps: Mickey’s Magical Math World and Mickey’s Magical Arts World, where parents can see their child’s latest creations, provide encouragement with a virtual “high five” and share their accomplishments with family and friends.

Disney Imagicademy apps are available exclusively for iPad and can currently be found on Apple’s App Store in the Kids, Education and Entertainment categories.

Please share how the app inspires your kids to want to learn and explore in playful, imaginative ways
Share highlights of what you and your kids enjoyed most about the apps, including specific app features, benefits, and kids’ reactions
Share your own experience with the Disney Imagicademy Parents app. What resources and/or features did you find most useful?
