I’ve gotta tell you a funny story before I get into this post. While finishing up at the ward Christmas party, chatting with the ladies while the men cleaned up the tables, my 3 year old told me his tummy hurt, but then went off to play. He come back over to me with a fake sounding cough as if something was stuck in his throat. I picked him up and asked him if he was okay, he coughed again, and seconds later an ever flowing fountain of puke was pouring through the front of my shirt, all over my jeans, on my shoes and gathering in a huge puddle around my feet. My friends stared, and the teenagers ran in terror, while I stood there in complete shock, worrying that everyone thought I brought a sick child to the ward party. A night we will never forget!
Since then all of us have been trading off being sick with fevers, body aches, chills, coughs and sore throats. It’s been a pretty crazy week! It hasn’t hit me full on yet, and I am hoping it stays that way. We are on the mend, but I am sad to say that same little guy that puked last Saturday night and got better now has what my other boys had and is crying out tonight with fever and chills. Poor kids!
When Intermountain Healthcare contacted me to try out their new FREE Intermountain Health Hub app, I used it, A LOT, and had to share it with you since I love it and know you will also!
The Intermountain Health Hub App is an all-in-one tool that makes managing healthcare easier. It gives users many different features designed to simplify their entire healthcare experience, including the ability to access their medical records while on the go.
The app can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store and Google Play. We have used it a lot this week. A few nights ago my sons fever was pretty high, we searched for InstaCares in our area and what time they closed. Then I looked up the GermWatch on the app and read about what they might have according to his symptoms and what other viruses are going around in my area. The awesome thing about the Instacare check is it even shows the wait time. It was 9:30 and the wait time was 45 mins and they closed at ten, so we just decided to stay home, gave him some spearmint water and Tylenol and send him back to bed.
Here are 10 features and benefits the new app provides:·
GermWatch: Find out how prevalent various germs are in Utah, and see how their activity level is trending. Learn about symptoms, how germs are spread, treatments, vaccinations, and when you should contact your doctor.
InstaCare and KidsCare urgent care centers: Hold your place in line before you arrive and compare wait times by Utah location. Also find KidsCare after-hours clinics in Utah and information for making appointments.
