Adventure Sketchers Draw, Play, Create

February 18, 2014 by The Things I Love Most

I really love the LeapFrog company.  I appreciate their games because they are fun, educational and my kids love them.  I don’t feel like they are just waisting time playing a lame game.  My kids get to have 1/2 hour of game time during school, especially in the winter time, and this is one I am totally fine with them playing. All 4 of them LOVE this new game Adventure Sketchers Draw, Play Create!.  I thought only my daughter would like it because she is the artist in the family, but the boys are loving it also.  The game is like playing Super Mario, mixed with writing your own story, mixed with drawing your own characters, mixed with using your own voice!

This games helps them use their imaginations.  I have a firm belief that kids need to be kids, have fun and imagine, imagine, imagine!  I love when all four of my kids (the baby doesn’t really tell me if he is imagining, but I am sure he is!) are playing together, being creative, and playing pretend!
Adventure Sketchers Draw, Play, Create is a fantastic game where they draw the game elements, record sound effects, and build stories all while learning story elements, how stories are put together and having fun with art!

Drawing the hero and other fun elements in the game, deciding the story’s direction by coming up with creative solutions, and recording fun phrases and sound effects makes this game super interactive.  All four of my kids will sit around watching whoever is playing!  Which kind of defeats the whole purpose of 1/2 hour a day, because even though they aren’t touching it they still expect their half hour 🙂 Oh well, they are having fun!

I got to listen in on another Webex for this game as a member of the LeapFrog Parental Advisory Board.  I am always in awe of the effort that goes into creating these games.  They aren’t just stupid games that are created to dumb down your children.  They try hard to really create products that are rich in education.  I know I can trust LeapFrog products because they help children develop educational skills through play.

Let me know if any of you get this game.  I am sure your kids, and you, will like it!
