My Interview with US Olympic Free-Skier David Wise & a Little About Pampers Gameface + Giveaway

January 23, 2014 by The Things I Love Most

Growing up I always was excited to hear that the Olympics was starting.  It was on our TV each day and we would mostly watch Ice Skating and Speed Skating.  I also really liked watching the skiing events because skiing totally terrifies me, so I think it is amazing people can actually do it!  One of the things I love about the Olympics is hearing personal stories of how individuals achieved their greatness and made it to the Olympics.  I am always amazed by the dedication and hard work people put into a sport!

The Sochi Winter Olympics are right around the corner.!  As medal contender in the 2014 Sochi Olympic games, David Wise is unquestionably one of the top athletes in his sport – freeskiing. Freeskiing is making its Olympic debut so as an inaugural athlete, these games are especially important for David.  Aside from being at the top of his game athletically, David’s other major role is being dad to two year old Nayeli.  As an athlete, he is used to wanting the best for his performance and now he also wants the best for his own growing and developing little athlete.

Between making sure Nayeli has the right gear to conquer her dreams and making sure his own preparation is running smoothly, it is no question that it’s a busy and exciting time in David’s life. I was excited when I heard I was going to be able to interview David.  I wasn’t able to call in and interview him because I have 5 kids and a busy husband and my house would have been way to loud, so I just sent in my questions.  Click on the video and listen to David talk about life as an olympian, a dad!

The exciting “Pampers Game Face” sweepstakes begins on February 3rd and gives parents the chance to upload their baby’s best “game face” to create sharable custom memes (viral internet photo or video) while vying for an exciting grand prize.

Now onto the Giveaway!  Pampers is giving away a gift basket filled with Diapers and wipes valued at $50!  Who wouldn’t want to win that!?!  Enter by the 30th!

Here is a little more info about David Wise for those interested in how he got started…

David Wise strapped on skis for the first time at the age of three when his parents enrolled him in the Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program. They were fed up with having to babysit him while the rest of the family was out on the slopes. Skiing quickly became a passion for all three of the Wise children, as it had been for their Collegiate Ski Racing father.  David followed in his fathers footsteps as a ski racer at first, but something was always calling him into the air. Even as a small child David Wise could be seen jumping off the roof with an umbrella, and spending countless hours on the trampoline in his backyard. At age 11, David joined a freestyle ski team with coach Clay Beck. David had found something that combined his passion for skiing and his love of being airborne. After entering his first Halfpipe and Big Air competitions at age 12, there was no turning back. David won his first Junior Olympic title in both Big Air and Halfpipe at age 13 and has been turning heads ever since.  In 2008 David kicked off his professional skiing career with a host of podium and top five finishes capped off with a win in Superpipe at the 2009 World Skiing Invitational. That summer David made skiing history by being the first person to ever perform a double corked 1260 in the Halfpipe.  Following an injured season in 2009/2010 David made his mark on the 2010/2011 season by ending up ranked 4th in the World in Halfpipe by the AFP (afpworldtour.com) and receiving an invitation to be a part of the first ever US Freeskiing Team. With the announcement that Skiing Halfpipe is going to be included in the 2014 Winter Olympics, David has set his sights and efforts towards being there representing the US. Join him in his pursuit of excellence!
