Crème Brulee–Our Christmas Favorite

December 19, 2012 by The Things I Love Most

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Creme Brulee around here, especially at Christmas time.  We had some friends come for dinner the other day and decided to bust out the old recipe! You might think it looks difficult to make this recipe, but I have found one that is SUPER easy and so yummy!  All you need is these 4 ingredients.
Easy Creme Brulee

  • 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 5 Egg Yolks
  • 1 t Vanilla (I use Mexican vanilla)
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
Preheat Oven to 325º
(This make 5-6 7oz ramekins full.  I always like to double the recipe to use all the cream and feed my whole family)
Put 2 cups cream in large bowl.  In smaller bowl crack your egg yolks and mix until smooth.  Pour Egg Yolks into cream.  Add sugar and vanilla and Walla! So easy.
Creme Brulee
This is the only tricky part that I think people are scared of, but it is so easy.  Place 6 small (or 3 larger or 1 very big) Ramekins in baking pan.
Fill Ramekin a quarter of the way full and put in baking pan!
Creme Brulee 2
Fill Casserole dish half way up the Ramekins with hot water.  Bake in oven on 325 degrees for 40 mins.  Keep checking after that every 10 mins until a knife comes out clean.
Creme Brulee 3
Cool on counter for 15 mins, and then in fridge for 6-8 hours or overnight.
When ready to eat, pull them out of the fridge, cover with sugar (I used brown sugar, but I usually use white)

And Torch them with a Crème Brûlée Chef’s Culinary Torch.  This Cameralizes the sugar and makes it melt and then harden.  If you don’t have a torch, guess what?  You can put it in the oven on Briol for a couple of minutes.  It is so easy and SO delicious.  I will say I like white sugar on top instead of brown.  The brown when torched didn’t look as pretty and tasted different, but both are really good!
Creme Brulee 5
My mother in law got me the cute brown set of six last year for Christmas.  They are super cheap at Amazon right now, so go check it out.  Get it for yourself for Christmas!

I love Creme Brulee. I wish I had some ramkins and a cool torch tool to make them!

That looks so delicious. I probably need to know the calorie count. Oh well, it’s Christmas.
Blessings and hugs for this one!
