How To Choose the Best Apps and e-games For Your Children

October 14, 2013 by The Things I Love Most

With so much technology available just a click away, choosing the best, most educational apps and e-games for children can be tricky to navigate for any parent.  I just got a new smart phone and even trying to find some good learning apps and games has been really frustrating.  Adds pop up, or are on the side and they accidentally tap on it and it tries to connect my kids to the Internet.  Even my 2 year old gets frustrated and throws my phone because his game isn’t there anymore.  Yeah, you know the scene!   I was excited when LeapFrog contacted me and asked me to interview Dr. Jodi Sherman  LeVos about this subject of how to choose games and apps that ares best for your kids.  In this video Dr. Jodi Sherman LeVos, a learning expert at LeapFrog, breaks down what every parent needs to know about children and navigating educational apps and e-games

Here are the questions I asked her…

How do you pick the best educational content for your children?
How do you pick the best devises for your children?

How do you monitor the amount of time, and what is suggested?
How do you know whether the content your child is engaging in supports the state standards {aka Common Core}?  As far as this question goes, I do not support common core, but did want to know if app and e-game developers are supporting these standards.  It’s good info to know whether you support it or not!

I really liked what she had to say about how to choose the best apps and e-games.  She had some great tips and I will definitely, the next time I download an app on my phone, will keep these in mind.
