I LOVE a good proper romance! I can have four books that I’m supposed to be reading and when a proper romance shows up at my door that takes precedence and I read the whole thing in 2 days 🙂 This new proper romance written by Julie Wright called Lies Jane Austen Told Me was one of those books.
Emma absolutely loves Jane Austen and has been in love with mr. Darcy since she First read Pride and Prejudice. She wishes her life was a Jane Austen Novel. Emma finds herself in a complicated love triangle between two brothers. Not something she had planned on. She had already broken up with Blake and then ended up becoming business partners with his younger brother Lucas. I love the part when Lucas and Emma are in New York and trying to work together. This book is about finding trust in others, learning to realize when you truly love someone or just care about their life. We learn from Emma and Blake that we must truly be honest with each other and with ourselves when it comes to important relationships in our life. There is so much in this story that I loved. I would ruin it for you if I told you all of it. I did love that Emma was able to find somebody to love in the end who was able to sympathize with her for all the hardships that she had gone through in her life. I also really enjoyed the character of April. She needed somebody like Emma to help her feel loved in life.
This book is clean, and a great read for anyone that loves proper romances. I would recommend it to anyone.
Product Description
Ever since Emma read Pride and Prejudice, she’s been in love with Mr. Darcy and has regarded Jane Austen as the expert on all things romantic. So when it turns out that what her boyfriend Blake wants is more of a hook-up than a honeymoon, Emma is hurt, betrayed, and furious. She throws herself deeper into her work as CMO of Kinetics, only to find her job threatened when her boss brings in a consultant to help her expand the business to the East Coast. Her frustration turns to shock when that consultant turns out to be Blake’s younger brother, Lucas.
Emma is determined not to fall for Lucas, but as she gets to know him, she realizes that Lucas is nothing like his brother. He is kind and attentive and spends his time and money caring for the less fortunate. But as perfect as Lucas seems, he clearly has his secrets. After all, there’s an angry woman demanding money from him and a little girl who Lucas feels responsible for.
Realizing that her love life is as complicated as anything Jane Austen could have dreamed up, Emma must figure out the truth—and soon—if she wants any hope of writing her own “happily ever after” ending.
