I recently read this book Live Your Life for half the Price and LOVED it. There are so many great ideas to help with finances and budgeting. Here are some things I got from the book!
Live Your Life for Half the Price
1-Live by Faith
· Only the Lord knows the future, but we must pray for the wisdom that he will give us to help us manage our individual economic conditions.
2-Let Virtue garnish your Thoughts
· Paying an honest tithe opens the windows of heaven so much that there will not be room enough to receive the blessing the Lord pours out (Malachi 3:10) He will direct your personal affairs if you let virtue garnish your thoughts.
3-Cultivate A Spirit of Charity
- Keep your finances common and decide together how to spend your money
- Beware of the “Blame Game”
- Don’t use money as a weapon
- Teach your Children about prudent spending
- Establish Neighborhood co-ops
- Share promotions and bulk-food purchases
- Make friendships mutually beneficial
- Share coupons
- Exchange goods and services
- Share spring clean up
4-Organize and Prepare Yourself.
- Keep good records-Tax statements, receipts relating to itemized deductions, warranties, retirement, stubs form utility, insurance policies etc
- Dispose of credit card debt.
- Keep your bills in an established and an easily accessible place
- Look over your bills on a regular basis for services you can do without.
- Save money against a rainy day
- Use up everything, and return unused items
5- Seek for Wisdom, Not Riches
- Be Patient
- Compare prices on major purchases
- Don’t buy the latest and greatest
- Look at the small stuff
- Own what you can afford
- Don’t walk into a store without a spending limit
- If something you bought goes on sale within a few weeks after your purchase return it and ask for the sale price
- Know how to Spot a real Discount
- Look for house brands
What do you do to “live your life for half the price”?
